About this listen

Keeping a secret isn't easy when you're in the most visible family in the world. It's even harder when you're a lesbian who has just fallen madly in love. An opposites attract, charming royal romance with a dash of fake dating.

When tabloid darling Princess Alice, the first out member of the British royal family, meets an opinionated single mother, the encounter goes viral. It seems the anti-monarchist education specialist Sara has a view on all things and doesn't mind sharing.

So when Alice later has to ask Sara to help diagnose her young nephew's learning difficulties, it's seriously awkward. At least until they discover how beautifully they click together.

With the press sniffing around them, and Alice desperately wanting to protect her nephew's privacy, they agree to claim they're dating.

But as their fake dates start to feel like much more, Sara and Alice must navigate having a real relationship in the public eye. Is that even possible, though, while keeping Sara's daughter safe and happy, and facing the Queen's disapproval?

Can they overcome their doubts for love? A love they can no longer hide?

Contains mature themes.

This is a lovely story. I didn’t expect too much due to royal thing although I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Keeley’s novels. I was very pleasantly surprised by such a sweet story that included a number of important topics which were sensitively dealt with.

I highly recommend this and all of Keeley’s novels and I really hope some more come to Audible soon.

Happiness royally given

Free , from the Plus Catalogue ! I really like 'Presidential' (by the author) and it was well worth the credit but this would not of been! The whole thing including the narration is cheesy, the 'Princess' bit overdone. The author is a bit of an enigma in regards to her writing style , her 'American' audiobooks totally different to her 'English' audiobooks (maybe the narrator's make a difference )?

I enjoyed this book. I was looking for something light and not too serious and this fit the bill. I found the last hour of the book a bit of a chore to get through though but otherwise quite enjoyable.

The narration was good too but sometimes the voices of Sara and Alice were quite similar and once or twice I was confused about who was speaking.

Not bad

Loved the characters and the way the story unfolded, and kept me up at night It also had me researching the author for more.🙏🙏🙏

A story that kept me captivated from start to finish

This is just my take on the book. I struggled a bit with this one and just wanted it finished. The narration threw me a bit and I think if I had read the book I would have felt more for it. Alice's voice was a bit too dated regal for me and the voice for Sara wasn't consistent. Sometimes the narrator, Alice and Sara's voices all sounded too similar.
The character of Sara I really struggled to feel anything for and it was past half way through the book before I felt anything for her. I know she was the uptight character at the start, but this lack of connection made me not care about the characters romance. I needed more connection overall. I gave it a 4 but it's probably more a 3.5.

I didn't feel anything for the characters

I enjoyed this audiobook. I'm glad it was "free", as I'd probably not have bought it, but for an easy read & sweet, albeit totally unrealistic, story it was lovely. My only issue with it was the narrator wasn't consistent or distinctive enough in her performance. Although Sara (the non royal) was born & bred in Cambridge, she still sounded extremely posh & too similar to Alice (the Princess). I would have preferred for her accent to have been a tad more "common" than it was, but once you get past that & manage to figure out which character is talking, it's fine.

Sweet story fit for a Netflix Christmas movie

Lovely story was really looking forward to the audio but did not like the narration. It was very hard to put the voice and the characters together , for me it spoiled a very enjoyable book

Better read than audio
