Summary
Six wives. One King. You know their stories. Now it's time to hear his.
The magnificent new Tudor novel from the author of the Sunday Times-bestselling Six Tudor Queens series.
A second son, not born to rule, becomes a man, and a king...
In grand royal palaces, Prince Harry grows up dreaming of knights and chivalry - and the golden age of kings that awaits his older brother. But Arthur's untimely death sees Harry crowned King Henry of England.
As his power and influence extends, so commences a lifelong battle between head and heart, love and duty. Henry rules by divine right, yet his prayers for a son go unanswered.
The great future of the Tudor dynasty depends on an heir. And the crown weighs heavy on a king with all but his one true desire.
HENRY VIII. HIS STORY.
Alison Weir's most ambitious Tudor novel yet reveals the captivating story of a man who was by turns brilliant, romantic, and ruthless: the king who changed England forever.

Getting to know Harry
This book gives Henry VIII's side to much of what we already knew of the Tudor world from Alison Weir's Six Tudor Queens Series as well as developing the relationships of those involved in the faction fighting. Worth reading from the Six Tudor Queens Series first though. To get the whole picture.

This is brilliantly written by Alison Weir which captures Henry VIII’s reign and brings it to life, It’s such a fascinating story which still fascinates us today - although I knew most of the story, I still leant a whole lot more

A little disappointing
Waited in anticipation of the final book in this series but it was not as captivating as the previous books. Well written as expected, but the narration was not so engaging. Rushed and not convincing.

Disappointing
Rather boring by comparison, definitely the wrong choice of narrator. Great story badly told, and I am a great fan of AW.

Narration (I don't want to be cruel)
I'm struggling with this book. The story is great but .....oh the narration!!!!!!!!! The narrator sounds as if he would be better suited to a documentary type of thing. I really can't picture Henry's court or relationships with his various Queens and mistresses. It sounds more like a documentary rather than the story from Henry's point of view. Alison Weir 's stories about Elizabeth I (the young Elizabeth and The Marriage Game where excellent takes on her life and I really got into those as the narration was perfect. Sorry but I just can't listen to it much more and I haven't got past his relationship and marriage beyond Katherine of Aragon. I hope other Audible listeners can get further than this and prove me wrong.
