Summary
Nothing interferes with Shane Hollander's game - definitely not the sexy rival he loves to hate.
Pro hockey star Shane Hollander isn't just crazy talented, he's got a spotless reputation. Hockey is his life. Now that he's captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, he won't let anything jeopardize that, especially the sexy Russian whose hard body keeps him awake at night.
Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane's not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he's as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him - except Shane. They've made a career on their legendary rivalry, but when the skates come off, the heat between them is undeniable. When Ilya realizes he wants more than a few secret hookups, he knows he must walk away. The risk is too great.
As their attraction intensifies, they struggle to keep their relationship out of the public eye. If the truth comes out, it could ruin them both. But when their need for each other rivals their ambition on the ice, secrecy is no longer an option...

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book. Some people seem to have an issue with this narrator but I found him decent.

Great story
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Took me ages to stop thinking of an Atlan Beast as I’ve heard and enjoyed this narrator a lot. I loved these characters. The spice was great and the epilogue was beautiful.

Skip chapters 8 to 14.
I have re-read the ebook a lot and tend to start at chapter 14 (according to the Audible count), when the befriending starts. Later, I found out this story is Real Person Fiction and I guess the author wanted to write a chapter about every known encounter between these two in Real Life. It makes chapter 8 to 14 redundant, uninspired and repetitive.
I like the narrator's voice but het tends to drone during the intimate parts.

all right
when the narrator spoke as ilya, it felt to me like he was doing armie hammer from U.N.C.L.E. (not a very favourable comparison) get the audiobook and judge for yourself haha.
he also mispronounced a couple words but eh
the story itself is great!

Loved it!!
It’s been a long time since I found an audio book I was really hooked to, but this one did it!!
I loved the story and characters, slow burn romance with hot scenes. I never got bored in the story!
Tor does such a great job with the narration, the characters have a distinctive voice and the accent is well done.
I highly recommend it and will defenetly listen to it again!

Ice hockey jocks romance
I loved this story. It had everything - steam, feels, and a beautiful epilogue. I know there's a follow up book, but honestly, this story was concluded well enough that I don't feel the need to read what happens next. This was a bit of a slow burn, following the relationship of Shane and Ilya, rival hockey players, over the course of 7 years with them hooking up occasionally when their teams played against each other. The build up of the relationship was beautifully done. All in all, a very satisfying read in the midst of my current reading slump.
P.S. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration by Thor Thom, who brilliantly brought to life the character of Ilya.

Very average
2.5 stars
Not sure why this has been so highly rated. It was just very average to me.
Average characters and developement
Average middle of the road storyline
Average kinda boring spice (not at all accessive to me)
Average performance from narrator.
It constantly teetered on the edge of boring. But snatched back from the edge by Ilyas' occassional sass.
Not impressed but only slightly disappointed
