Summary
Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.
Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves - which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.
Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feel - and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her stretch far beyond gratitude.
When the pair is thrust together and chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: The things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

What a story of heartache, loss and salvation!
The ugly truth behind PTSD and a harsh reminder of how close to the end victims come on a daily basis.
This novella made me cry, not only for Easy and Jenna who both struggle in their own ways but also for the love, care, friendship and acceptance offered instead of rejection and criticism.
Kudos to Laura Kaye for writing about a sensitive matter in a tender and kind way where so many authors have tried and failed to do justice to this problem.
As always, narrator and story are well suited.

Loved
I stupidly read this after book 3. It didn't take away from the enjoyment or ruin the book in any way though. This novella tells the story of Easy and Jenna, both have their demons and both feel the same irresistible pull to each other. Both suffer from guilt due to reasons out of their control, both are living with that guilt, Easy is not handling his guilt at all well and is suffering from ptsd, including suicidal thoughts. They find solace in each other, and both come to terms with their past, and their future. Wonderful read, thoroughly enjoyed.
