Summary

New York Times best-selling author K. Bromberg is back with an all new second-chance, standalone hockey romance.

At first, the request seemed simple - sign a new athlete to the agency.

Then I found out the new athlete was none other than the most wanted man in hockey today: Hunter Maddox.

Gifted. Sexy. At the top of his game. And the only man who has ever broken my heart.

If signing him will help save our family business, I’ll swallow my pride and do what’s asked.

But when it becomes clear his uncharacteristic antics off the ice are a hint of something deeper, keeping things strictly professional between us becomes more than complicated. But I know better than to cross that line.

I’ll never date a client. Not even for him.

- - -

Win the Stanley Cup and do it before time runs out.

Not a small feat, but it’s what’s motivated me since the start of my career.

And time is running out.

Enter Dekker Kincade.

Feisty. Dogged. Damn gorgeous. The one I let get away.

I have no idea why she’s traveling with the team, but hell if resisting her is going to be easy.

But I have a job to do, and I refuse to lose sight of that end game. Even if she confuses me. Even if she sees parts of me I’ve hidden from the world.

I can’t lose focus. Not even for her.

I couldn't get enough!

I really love K. Bromberg books. She writes such fully rounded books that encompass the entire story for characters. Yes, it may come off too long but it isn’t. The story is just full. I think too often we get used to those shorter books that leave some stuff out. With Bromberg, I feel as though I get a bit of it all… a well-thought-out story with tons of sex appeal, some fun and friendship, some family time with sibling squabbles. I love it all and it’s what keeps me coming back to her books time and time again.

Hard to Handle was no different. Hunter and Dekker's story kept me fully enchanted. I’m not usually big into sports romances, least of all hockey, but again, I didn’t feel like it was too much sports for me. The sports that was added was brilliant and added to the story. Emma Wilder and Jacob Morgan are the best narrators. They brought so much heart to this emotionally charged story that was riddled with humor and love. I couldn’t get enough!

First of a new series.

Sports romance is one of my favourite romance sub genre and K Bromberg has managed to cement that even more.

Of course, the agents that represent athletes at the top of their games, are needed to negotiate the best deals as well as the best from, their clients.

In the audio version, Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder bring the beautifully penned words of Ms. Bromberg to glorious technicolour and make the 'reading' experience so much more!

Hard to Handle is the first in this particular series and I can't wait to delve into the others.

Emotional sport romance hockey

Hunter and Dekker's story was simply fantastic, astonishing, phenomenal, Ok you get the picture, I enjoyed each page of this book, it hooked me up from the very start and I couldn't put it down even if I had to, sleep was overrated. Each character in the story is amazing, the emotional turmoil this book had me on edge, this is not just another hockey second chance story, is about finding what you lost along the way, the guilt and sorrow they face and how wanting the love and respect from the one you need is more important than anything. Can't wait to find out the story of Dekker's sisters. The Jumbotron is displaying 5 brilliant stars!

Hate to love second chance romance

This is my favourite K Bromberg book. This is a second chance, love to hate to love sports romance between Dekker, who works for the family sports agency with her dad and 4 sisters and her ex Hunter, a hot headed NHL star who's attitude is getting him into trouble on and off the ice.

The push and pull between Dek and Hunter was so on point and they both had demon of their own to battle through together and apart. I just wanted to wrap them both up in a massive hug while also banging their heads together.

This was an emotional rollercoaster. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Great start to the series.

I have read/ listened to several books by Ms Bromberg and enjoyed them, but Hard To Handle is definitely my favourite. The plot is thoughtful and well paced, with highs and lows that perfectly balance the story.
The characters have depth and are interesting, I found myself really rooting for Dekker and Hunter. Both characters are flawed and damaged but it didn't stop me from really liking them.
There are plenty of other characters that I want to learn more about and I look forward to experiencing more of this series.
Emma Wilder and Jacob Morgan both delivered consistently good performances. Their voices compliment each other and their voice acting gave life to the story. I listened to the whole story in one day. As the audiobook is 10 hours and 23 minutes long, I think that this highlights just how much I enjoyed it.

Emotional Sport Romance

Hard to Handle is a hockey romance but it is also so much more. Rhett is having trouble keeping himself in control under the weight of devastating tragedy and the feelings of being responsible for the tragedy. Dekker is sports agent sent by her boss, who is also her father, to attempt to sign Rhett to their agency.
This story was filled with so much emotion. Everything from pure love for his brother, survivors guilt, fear and desperate longing for love and acceptance. It was a beautiful story that contained real life tragedy. I loved the heard-earned happily ever after and cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

Hunter and Dekker!

Hunter is the star captain of the Lumberjacks hockey team who is struggling due to the burdens he carries both personally and professionally. He knows that people are counting on him, but the stress and pressure are taking its toll and resulting in actions that is out of character for him.

With the family’s sports agency business in trouble Dekker needs to sign a high-profile client and the person her Dad wants her to pursue is Hunter. Now she must put their failed personal relationship to the side and keep their relationship strictly professional for the sake of her family however that is easier said than done.

As they spend time together Dekker realizes that there is much more to Hunter than she ever expected and the image he presents to the world is nothing like the man he truly is. The chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but will it be enough to help him heal from his past?

Hunter and Dekker couldn’t be more perfect for each other and are both wounded in their own ways. This is an emotion filled story about love, family and healing that will captivate you until the last page. The narrators were a perfect choice for the characters as they made you feel the same emotions that they were feeling.

Hard NOT to love

Wow, wow, Wow.

Jacob and Emma did a stellar job with this narration.
I was close to tears several time from the poignant and heartfelt delivery alone.
The hurt, the pressure, and the blame placed on Hunter’s shoulders had my eyes welling up - I couldn’t help the tug on my heartstrings the words caused.

Hunter and Dekker definitely had enemies to lovers vibes, they fought hard but loved harder. Their chemistry was inescapable, their banter hilarious, the attraction and pull - almost magnetic.
Despite their reluctance and resistance to sharing their feelings with each other, they were there, in plain view for all to see.

Gah, SO MANY FEELS.

The epilogues were the icing on an already sumptuous cake.
And the tennis balls? Perfection.

I hope I can listen to more of this series, this book was amazing. One of my top reads for the year.

Emotional, heartbreaking and beautiful

Oooh, it’s been a while since my list K. Bromberg book, and HARD TO HANDLE was just perfect to remind me while I love her stories so much. Emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful.

Dekker and Hunter take you along on their bumpy roller coaster ride to happiness. I swooned, I cried, I laughed, then swooned some more, before tearing up once more. Hunter is going through the motions, to an extend that it’s jeopardizing his career. That’s when Dekker steps back into his life, the one who got away …

Constant back and forth, all while Hunter’s heartbreak slowing being revealed (boy, I wasn’t prepared. At. All. My eyes get misty even now), makes for one tension-filled, dramatic second chance romance that had me wanting to shake some sense into each of them a time or two throughout. Sheesh, seriously!

Sweet and sexy, yet heavy on emotion, and full of angst and explosive chemistry. An enemies to lovers (kinda), second chance, hockey romance about healing, forgiveness and self-discovery. While it could have been cut shorter here or there, I was never once bored. It’s the first in a series of standalones about the Kincade sisters, and I can’t wait to dive into the next one.

So, Emma Wilder and Jacob Morgan. They’re both a force on their own, but together they make this audio experience straight perfection. The intonations, the emotions they each convey … more, please!
