About this listen

Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Beth O'Leary and Tessa Bailey: the new romcom from the author of Mrs Nash's Ashes.

Fake medium. True love.

Fake spirit medium Gretchen Acorn is happy to help when her wealthiest client hires her to look into the unexplained phenomena preventing the sale of her bridge partner's struggling goat farm. Gretchen may be a complete fraud, but she's a beneficent one. So if 'cleansing' the historic property will help a nice old man get on with his retirement and put some much-needed cash in her pockets at the same time, who's she to say no?

Of course, it turns out said bridge partner isn't quite who Gretchen imagined - Charlie Waybill is young, hot as hell, and extremely unconvinced by Gretchen. Except, to her surprise, Gretchen finds herself face-to-face with Everett: the very real, very chatty ghost that's been wreaking havoc. And he wants her to help ensure Charlie avoids the same family curse that's had Everett haunting Gilded Creek Farm since the 1920s.

Now, Gretchen has one month to convince Charlie of the dangers that will befall him should he sell up. Unfortunately, hard work and honesty seem to be the best way to win over the stubborn farmer - not exactly Gretchen's strengths. She has to try though, because trust isn't the only thing growing between them. To save the goat farm, its resident phantom, and the man she's beginning to love, Gretchen will need to pull off the greatest con of her life: being fully, genuinely, messily herself.

Ghost/love story

This is an easy listen, romance, ghosts and goats, what’s not to love. It skates on the edge of a hallmark movie, but doesn’t fall completely into the cliche.
