About this listen
Invited to a Private View of the work of controversial artist Denzil Willoughby, the good citizens of Fethering are not quite sure what to expect. And it certainly turns out to be a lively affair, culminating in a confrontation between Willoughby and his ex-lover, followed by a heated argument with the gallery owner and a rival artist. But what no one could have anticipated was that the evening would end in sudden, violent death. While the police seem happy to accept an official verdict of suicide, Fethering residents Carole and Jude remain unconvinced. Deciding to investigate further, Carole and Jude soon discover that the answers lead only to more questions – and that at least one Fethering resident has a dark secret to hide.

What made the experience of listening to Guns in the Gallery the most enjoyable?
As ever I really enjoyed Simon Brett's delivery and the light story line, which bubbles along and keeps you intrigued. I listen to my audiobooks snuggle in bed, lights off, as I like to fall asleep listening, and this author is brilliant, the stories move along rapidly, and the voice and characterisation is excellent.Who was your favorite character and why?
I find Jude the most pleasant character of the two women detectives is , Carole is a buttoned up, prissy person, but the contrast between the two is really enjoyable.Have you listened to any of Simon Brett’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listened to many of Simon Brett's performances and they are always excellentWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I like to take my time, half an hour every evening is fine, maybe a little more listening if ironing or having a bath.Any additional comments?
I fear I may be getting to the end of Feathering stories, just wish he would write some more, though I cannot really see how one small seaside town can be so awash with villains. I prefer the Feathering stories to the Charles Paris ones as i find stories about theatre people a bit tediousUsual good escapist fun
