About this listen
Thione Aldermann, a third generation homesteader in the Columbia Valley, prides herself on having a plan for all of life's little eventualities and never being caught flat-footed. But her contingency plan for first contact is about a decade out of date.
Enter Guest, a spiderlike alien, who crash-lands in her back pasture. He's wounded, scared, unintelligible, and worse yet - clueless. Fortunately for Guest, Thione formulates a plan to help him, hide him, and when the time is right, heave him back to whence he came. But nosy neighbors and an untrustworthy sheriff imperil the fragile plan from the start, forcing Thione to pull up stakes and risk her farm to even have a chance at sending Guest home.

Amazing, heartwarming, binge worthy book!
I'm so glad I picked this book to listen to, it made me happy in these depressing cold winter months!
Guest is a wonderful story of a brilliant woman who is put in a very unusual spot. What would you do if a knitting alien popped up in your garden! I hope we all would do as Thione does and help Guest as much as possible.
I listened to this snuggled up with my dog with a smile on my face. I don't want to ruin the story, but for anyone who is a fan of Bobiverse, Eleanor Ophelia, The Hundred year old man who leapt out of the window, or Where'd you go Bernadette they should adore this book.
I'm about to listen to it right away, I rarely do that, so its shows what a good story it it - oh and the protagonist is amazing!

I love this book
I like to think this is what I would do if an alien crashed in my yard. This book is incredible and you should listen to it.

A middle-aged roadtrip worth taking
I’ve been looking for a book with low stakes that isn’t a ‘sweet’ romance. I like a sweet romance, but they get to being the same over time. And sometimes I want to think about something other than men or romance. Enter Guest, the cure for the common book. The stakes are low – the main character could walk away any minute, but what’s interesting is how she doesn’t and why she doesn’t. What follows is totally predictable but also surprising by turns. There’s a line in the book about college roadtrips, and this is sort of a middle-aged version of one of those, which I like.

Just wonderful
A heartwarming tale of an ordinary, but extraordinary, woman facing first contact with an extra-terrestrial being.
I only hope that I would face such a situation with such grace and fortitude. Also that if I were to host an Alien he would likewise be a charming house guest.
Exceptional narration.

Best Cozy Sci-Fi!
Honestly one of the best books I've heard to in my life. Is "cozy sci-fi" a genre? Because this should top the charts in it!
