About this listen

A terrifying encounter with an escaped convict in a graveyard on the wild Kent marshes; a summons to meet the bitter, decaying Miss Havisham and her beautiful, cold-hearted ward Estella; the sudden generosity of a mysterious benefactor - these form a series of events that change the orphaned Pip's life forever, and he eagerly abandons his humble origins to begin a new life as a gentleman.

Carlton Griffin might be a little over-the-top for almost anything else, but he suits the bombastic theatricality of Dickens right down to the ground. He does an especially wonderful Magwich and Jaggers, and although is narrative voice might get a little melodramatic, it's like what I'd imagine a real period reading would have been like! This is my favorite Dickens, too, so this is one my favorites from Audible all around.

Perfect reader for Dickens
