Needed something to help me with the loss of my dog who died suddenly. This really helped, it still hurts and I will always miss her but glad I purchased this book.

First half was promising, mixing philosophy, wisdom, guidance with subtle and touching anecdotes. It became slowly apparent this was a Christian Animal poetry book guised as something else. So disappointed as pet bereavement isn't taken seriously enough. Bereavement isn't solely a Christian / religious experience and the author is crass with his lack of research and mindfulness to the fact.

If you find comfort in religious poetry about animals, this is for you. If you want to know about the bereavement process and practical ways of helping manage your grief over your lost pet, really, don't bother. I'm a therapist and have unresolved compex bereavement issues with my old dog Ben so I have a dual interest.

Throughout the book there's a few astute sentences, but it's lost between the poetry. It's also as if the author just gave up on it and rushed it.

I would have kept this to share with my therapy clients if a) it wasn't just essentially a book about Christian belief with a bit of Islamic doctrine thrown in at a poor attempt of balance and b) I say the author gives up as, throughout the dozens and dozens of poems in the content of the book consistently, the last 45 minutes or so is literally a dispassionate list of read poems.

The only tolerable take is the narrator. He makes this book. Sadly I'll be returning this.
