" الإله يقدِّم استقالته " المسرحية التي أخفتها نوال سعداوي عن الأعين عشر سنوات ثمَّ أحرق ناشرها جميع نسخها بعد أن كثر الجدل حولها ورفضت بعد ذلك جميع دور النَّشر والمطابع إعادة إصدارها خصوصًا حين تمَّ اتّهامها بالتعدّي على الذات الإلهية والأنبياء؛ لتواجه نوال السعداوي بسببها قضيةً جديدة في المحكمة أثارها الأزهر ضدّها.

المسرحية من النوع الساخر الرمزيّ تصوِّر فيه السعداوي اجتماعًا للقمة يحضره الأنبياء ابراهيم وموسى وعيسى ومحمّد بحضور الله وإبليس ورضوان حارس الجنة، ليديروا حوارًا طويلًا عن الظلم بشكلٍ عام وظلم الله للأنبياء وتفضيل بعضهم على الآخر بشكلٍ خاص.

الفكرة جريئة بحدِّ ذاتها كما الحوار أو المُحاكمة كما تسمّيها الكاتبة، لكن المسرحية تمتليء بالإسقاطات السياسية عن فترة حكم السادات لمصر .
