About this listen

For the first time in a beautiful new edition, this omnibus will collect together the original official novelizations of both Ghostbusters 1 and 2.

Relive the classic Ghostbusters stories with the original movie novelizations republished for the first time since 1980s.

When Dr. Peter Venkman and his Columbia University colleagues are kicked out of their prestigious academic posts, they start a private practice as professional ghost-catchers. Although things do not start auspiciously for the three parascientists, their television advertisements finally pay off when beautiful Dana Barrett contracts them. It seems her apartment has become the entryway for ghastly ghosts and goofy ghouls hellbent on terrorizing New York City. Soon, they’re not just going to her rescue, but trying to rid the whole city of the slimy creatures.

After waging a war on slime that cost New York City millions, the Ghostbusters find themselves out of business until an ancient tyrant, preparing a return to the Earthly domain through his portrait at the Manhattan Museum of Modern Art, sets his sights on Dana Barrett’s baby as the new home for his wicked soul!

...but thank you Audible for the playback speed change. had to listen to the first one at 0.95x as it's too fast but then to match that the second one was at 1.25x because it was too slow.

The books add a lot of personal character development and the humour and dialogue is very similar across both stories unlike the films.

Definitely recommend it as a freebie, would have been annoying to have paid for it.

Adds a lot to the original classics.....

A decent job of bringing the novels to life though I did find the narrator a bit boring at times, likely because I've seen both Ghostbusters movies enough times I only ever hear the principle casts' voices; especially Bill Murrays' deadpan and sarcastic delivery.

Better than the Reboot

if you love Ghostbusters or not this is a good listen. I do thing fans get more out of it because there are weak points in storytelling where gaps are filled with prior knowledge but still a good time easy listening.

Love Ghostbusters

So it’s basically a retelling of the movies but with slight differences. For that reason it’s not too in-depth which makes it an easy listen. The only thing I didn’t like was that in GB2 they left out the railway line scene with the heads on spikes and ghost train- that was my favourite scene in the movie! Oh well.

Slightly different from the movies

I do love a novelisation and this one is very good. The narrator does a good job although he is very fast. Thank god you can reduce the speed on the app. I’d recommend 0.8/0.9 setting for better enjoyment!

Fleshes out the movies even more!

I loved it, but the voices really made me feel weard, but the author did make it seem funny

Good but the voices and the chunks missing out bad

The story adds some great additional depth to the plot of the original movies and is just a fantastic listen for OG fans.

The only down side is the narrator.
He’s just reads through everything so fast especially during the iconic scenes.
You find yourself wishing he would act out certain moments similar to how they’re portrayed in the films, but he reads like he’s just trying to get through the book as quick as possible.

He absolute nails Lewis’s voice but the rest of the characters all kind of blur into one voice which isn’t very immersive.

All in all though a fun listen and I would definitely recommend it for fans of the franchise.

Great for fans but too fast!

I loved this audio book very much and I want more like this in the future.

Ghostbusters Review

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

As a fan of the movies it was alot of fun to learn more about the characters. I felt that some of the humour was skimmed over a bit too quickly by the narrator but other than that did an incredible job. My favourite part was Rays possession in the second book.

Fantastic
