About this listen

From the mind of horror master Garth Marenghi: a masterful multi-volume horror masterpiece thirty years in the making...

Dare you crack open the TerrorTome? (Mind the spine)

When horror writer Nick Steen gets sucked into a cursed typewriter by the terrifying Type-Face, Dark Lord of the Prolix, the hellish visions inside his head are unleashed for real. Forced to fight his escaping imagination - now leaking out of his own brain - Nick must defend the town of Stalkford from his own fictional horrors, including avascular-necrosis-obsessed serial killer Nelson Strain and Nick's dreaded throppleganger, the Dark Third.

Can he and Roz, his frequently incorrect female editor, hunt down these incarnate denizens of Nick's rampaging imaginata before they destroy Stalkford, outer Stalkford and possibly slightly further?

From the twisted genius of horror master Garth Marenghi - Frighternerman, Darkscribe, Doomsage (plus Man-Shee) - come three dark tales from his long-lost multi-volume epic: TerrorTome.

Can a brain leak?
(Yes, it can)

Laughed so hard I nearly fell off my exercise bike... on multiple occasions. Also, true to form, Marenghi's writing scared the bajeezus right out of my back end.

Absolutely Brilliant

I was so scared by this audio tome that my mind was warped and when I went to Nando’s I imagined that the chicken carcasses were avian “boners”. The manager had to give me a “knuckle supper” to calm me down.

Unpleasant dreams

Absolutely amazing performance by the humblest of fabulists and dreamweavers.

If you loved Darkplace them you'll love this too. Garth's narration is excellent. Really brings home the "actor" part of "author, visionary, plus actor".

(Un)pleasant dreams await.

I am disturbed (by the book)

A true visionary writer, and narrator, who shows how to string you along on his horror bus journey, while throwing your tidbits of plot twists along the way to keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus he shows true understanding of the way to move heavy furniture

A master of horror

Having loved the TV show, the audiobook was no-brainer. It has surpassed my expectations

A masterpiece

As someone who’s written more books than they’ve read, I wasn’t sure it would be for me. More fool me.

Excellent

I really enjoyed this book. It brilliantly captured the sprit of Garth Merenghi. Highly recommend.

This was a joy to listen to. I was a huge fan of the TV show way back when and this is a fitting continuation. First off, for something to be this intentionally bad suggests a decent grasp of not only writing but the horror genre. While some may think it's disparaging of King and Koontz (and no doubt others) it's hard to parody them without being well versed and presumably a fan of them.
I also liked the metalevels at play, the book is clearly nerenghi projecting himself onto his character who in turn is projecting himself onto his own works. Add the footnotes and it is a really funny poke at writing.
The narration is also excellent.
a must for fans of the TV show

great bad writing

Thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in Marenghi’s mind. Now to seek out and read his previous books…

A Tomentous Achievement

I really need a sequel to this. The performances are funny and perfect for anyone missing ‘Dark Place’

I sincerely hope a sequel is soon made for this book. It’s just far too funny.

I need another book like this ASAP
