About this listen

From out of the shadows of the Silent War, a hero emerges. Clad all in grey, an errant warrior of the Legiones Astartes kneels before the Regent of Terra, and accepts a solemn new duty - Battle-Captain Garro, once commander of the Eisenstein, now Agentia Primus of Malcador the Sigillite.

From the desolation of Isstvan to the halls of the Imperial Palace itself, he stands as a paragon of loyalty and protector of the innocent, ever ready to strike back at the traitorous allies of the Warmaster. But Garro is walking a path of his own, one that may lead him to question his own place in the Imperium...and what if he, too, should falter?

This audiobook contains James Swallow's complete saga of Nathaniel Garro in the Horus Heresy - the audio drama series is embellished and expanded in prose, with additional scenes to represent the author's original vision. This all serves as prelude to the events of the novella Vow of Faith, bringing Garro closer to his inescapable destiny as the first true martyr of the Lectitio Divinitatus.

Critic reviews

" Garro is not a collection of short stories - it's James Swallow's full novelisation of Nathaniel Garro's story arc, something we've previously only seen (in part) in the audio dramas and novella. There are new and extended scenes, whole new chapters in fact, making this just about the most definitive exploration of the founding of the Knights Errant, and everything that comes after...." (Laurie Goulding, The Horus Heresy series editor)

I loved it..

I had heard the Garro series before, but individually to have them here in one book was treat..

If you've not listened to Flight of the Eisenstein, it will explain Garros stepping off point.!

To hear how Garro has been made Argentia Primus of the Sigillite and the missions to find other Astartes of a same mind to defend The Emperor and Mankind against the Traitor Marines and Daemons

Interesting expansion of a character profile

I have always found this character fascinating, his faith in the Emperor being his driving force. This give a further insight to this intriguing legionary.

The first few tales of Garro, up to a point

Excellent collection of books, and shedding more light of the background to the greater conflict. Well read as always by Toby Longworth.

Another great W40k audio book with Garro

Garro - if the emperor had another 10 of him, Horus and the terror god's would have his under a large plant pot! Showing his character, judgement and thoughtfulness, Garro is put in numerous positions that shoe him for the man he is.

Great Volume of The Horus Heresy Series

Really well read, decent plot and good to see some previous characters back.
Definitely a must read in my opinion, especially if you want to follow the major protagonists in the Horus Heresy Saga.

Garro at his Finest

The story about Captain Garro is incredible, James Swallow fully breathes life into a true Loyal Space Marine, one that everyone could admire.

Yet again a breath taking story, narrated by Toby Longworth, I havent listened to him before in favour of Johnathan Keeble, but im am pleased to say, Toby proved to be yet another outstanding Narrator to listen to for the Horus Heresy series

I was constantly impressed by Tony's performance and totally indulged by the story that unfolded.

Captain Garro the Grey is now one of my all time favourite characters in the Warhammer Universe.

10/10 on every level, a must listen to! But! Listen to the previous book about Garro known as The Flight of Eisenstein, then listen to this to continue his story
