About this listen

Former Marine Arthur Holland’s destiny begins when an aircraft crashes on his property in the mountains of Colorado. He moves to investigate and to help any survivors, but the closer he gets the less control he has of his movements.

An unknown force urges him to open the door of the mysterious craft, discovering the secret that lies within: a dead, alien pilot and a peculiar, otherworldly crystal. If that wasn’t enough, the crystal feels like it is alive. That’s when he hears a single word inside his mind: run.

An enemy vessel approaches overhead in pursuit of the downed ship, leaving Arthur little time to make his escape.

Guided by this strange voice, Art is propelled through a hidden portal, arriving somewhere unknown. On the other side of the galaxy, without a means of returning home, he has no choice but to move forward and help the crystal accomplish its mission: upgrade the ancient derelict ship, recruit new allies, and help the Galactic Conglomerate fight the Vael Empire.

It may be destiny that’s called him, but it’s the choices he makes that will forge his future.

Pretty good space adventure. I want to hear the next one. The headline makes sense when you read the story.

Galactic Forge

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. I was actually in there with them totally immersed in the story alongside the characters. Narration was superb throughout. Can’t wait to start book 2.

Good narratio, interesting plot, poor subject focus

It might just be me but i'm getting bored of the amazing AI saves the day while ex US service person complains about how hard done by they are. add into that predictable leveling up by finding components part, and lack of realistic character interaction and it just made it hard to immerse myself in.

the only saving grace that got me to the end was the Narrator. he has a good range of voices and fluid reading style.

Easy to listen to. Nothing special.

Very derivative.
I thought it rather like a space was version of an Edgar Rice Burroughs story. But not as good.
Elements from Star Wars, and even SG1.
An OK free listen, but not worth paying for.

A Well Crafted Story

I really enjoyed this book. A very well crafted story. Very believable and with, immediately relatable characters.

star wars plus

Great story keeps you interested, from start to finish
brilliant narration plenty of voices to tell u who's who
pity other books not includes as don't really like spending a credit
on 7hr books when u can get same genre for a 20 to 30 hr book for one credit have to think about getting them. all the same this first installment has wetted my appetite.
5 stars for everything.

He wants to get home!

So the hero of the story wants to get home. It's pretty much all he goes on about. He's on a starship at the other end of the galaxy with a hot warrior princess (who has to persuade him to train with her by offering to watch TV with him. smh) fighting in wars and he's so bored he needs an entertainment system (which somehow bags him trainng sessions with said warrior princess, go figure).

The guy just wants to get home and everything else is a hindrance to that aim so it's difficult to get in to. I listened to 11 chapters, he still wants to get home, impossible as that may seem....

Maybe I'll go back and listen in small chunks, it's not terrible just a bit irritating. Paul Heitsch is as good as ever.
