I loved it. It was a lovely and exciting book

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest and open review. I loved it and found it a really exciting book to listen too. I find it hard concentrate on audible books. I mainly use audible for learning and rarely for fictional books. It had me on the edge of my car seat in the last chapter!

Different!

I love the idea of this books! Sadly, I do think a lot of it just seemed too coincidental, but that is fiction! Narration was good! That quality of the recording could have been a bit better, I think. Overall, I liked this story and the whole idea. Definitely recommend!

Right place at the right time

After feeling betrayed and miserable following her another failed relationship, Stephanie finds a derelict old house standing alone outside of her usual area of knowledge. And with it, she feels a wonderful sense of peace. The old Higgins house, built in the early 1900s, had been empty for some 17 years. She decides to buy it. At first, there was a reluctance on the part of the owner, a solicitor who had been left the house by the son of the couple who built it on the condition it should not be lived in again. But then the five acres of property are sold to Stephanie on her agreement to pull the house down. Of course, she doesn't: she renovated and moves in.
Always prone to rages, she finds that strange things start happening to her when news items occur that make her angry - she transports to the past - and the book charts her increasing control of her new power and the change it brings to her life. Time travel, a touch of romance, a faithful licky dog, a female friend and a serial killer thriller keep the interest in this book flowing.

Despite lots of attention to detail, characterisation is very scanty other than for Stephanie herself and, for this reader, even she stays insubstantial as a real person. Perhaps those trips into the past rather thi n our her present personality? She becomes increasingly unlikable as the book progresses as her Messianic nature unfurls and she blunders about, good natured but interfering, doing who knows what harm to the timeline? But it was a clever idea and served to string together what were, in effect, several very short stories into one cohesive whole.
Narration by the deliciously sounding Daniela Actelli is both well modulated and intoned, as well as nicely paced. Her characters are individually voiced and her performance helps to breath life into the story, especially the (fairly brief) conversations which had a slightly stilted feel rather than spontaneous conversation.

The book was enjoyable overall but did leave some questions unanswered, perhaps to be addressed in later books in the series. My thanks to the rights holder of Fury: the Awakening, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Good concept, an easy read, but probably not one that I would recommend despite the tension filled last trip to the past and all of the subsequent ramifications. Will I read book two? Probably not.

Loved it, sorry it see the book end.

Really enjoyed the way the story flowed, didn’t take me long to be hooked. I became very invested in the characters, very well written.
The narration was spot on, it has a beautiful flow that I don’t often hear.

This is well worth the credit, and looking forward to listening to the second book. Highly recommend.

This is an absolutely entertaining audio book! This is my first book by R.E. Sargent's and really enjoyed it. Narration is also great and clear.

Excellent!

I liked the premises of the storyline, it's well written and well-plotted. R.E. Sargen has done an outstanding job with character development, they're likeable, interesting and engaging. The narration by Daniela Acitelli is excellent, she does a wonderful job bringing the story to life.

Fury

Do you go against someone’s dying wish and restore the old house or start over. Is it the old hose granting you the callings? This was definitely hard to put down. The book was a nice listen and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more in the series. Fantastic narration!

Great book!

No spoilers here, but I enjoyed this book immensely. If you're a fan of Dean Koontz or books like Stephen King's 11/22/63, you'll love this novel and all its unexpected twists and turns. The book is well paced and builds to a satisfying ending with more than one surprise in store! Can't wait to read the second book in this science-fiction series. Five stars!
