About this listen

Cute rhyming audiobook.

Thanksgiving is a special time of year when family gets together, we eat lots of yummy food, and we spend quality time together. This is a cute rhyming story about a "normal" family Thanksgiving, but you will quickly see how familiar it will be. Grab a slice of pumpkin pie and enjoy.

Perfect as a gift for kids - beginning and early learners - and for listening aloud with friends and family!

  • Beautifully narrated audiobook
  • Excellent for listening aloud or as a bedtime story
  • Great for toddlers, preschool, and elementary children

From the audiobook:

"Dad, Ruby, and I go to get the potatoes. We also buy squash, corn, and tomatoes. 'And we can’t forget the chocolate pie!' My sister and I together we cry.

"Nana and then Papa get here first, with my silly aunt that is a nurse! We jump into their arms, where they hug us and kiss us! They tell us we’ve grown and that they’ve missed us!

"By now, the house is filled with chatting, laughing people, and the noise is so loud, it shouldn’t be legal! But we all quiet down, like my growling tummy, the moment we sit down to eat - oh, how yummy!"

We had some family staying with us from the US last year, and we celebrated Thanksgiving with them. Soo Porter does a great job telling this short rhyming story, explaining how this family went about preparing for their thanksgiving holiday meal. It was easy reading for younger kids. I do think the behaviour of the kids when asked to wash up could be a problematic lesson, as the story doesnt seem to be told from a spirit of helping and family, and its more grounded in good food and lots of presents, but it was a good distraction for the kids.

Fun holiday story!
