Summary
THE SUNDAY TIMES Music Book of the Year
Faith, Hope and Carnage is a meditation on faith, art, music, freedom, grief and love.
Created from more than forty hours of intimate conversations with the journalist Seán O’Hagan, it is a profoundly thoughtful exploration, in Cave’s own words, of what really drives his life and creativity. The audiobook has been recorded so that the listener, especially when playing through headphones, sits between Cave and O’Hagan.
The book draws candidly on Cave’s life, from his early childhood to the present day, his loves, his work ethic and his dramatic transformation in recent years. The audiobook features 16 musical codas and elements from the Carnage, Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen albums. It also includes an exclusive, additional 12-minute conversation between Cave and O’Hagan about the production of the recording.
Faith, Hope and Carnage offers ladders of hope and inspiration from a true creative visionary.

Thank you
I can’t express how much I enjoyed this, beautifully lead by Sean and thoughts and experiences wonderfully articulated by Nick. As someone who has lost both parents recently, it’s hard to talk about everything that is caught up in that. So thank you so much. X

Unforgettable
I listened to this walking on clear mornings, and so often it took my breath away. There sometimes is a rawness and honesty when Cave talks about loss and pain that are very stark. But there is also a thread of hope - “optimism with a broken heart”.

Great, emotional book, mediocre delivery.
Do stick with it, like everyone says. It's narrated really poorly. They sound like Primary school kids reading out their end of year play. But it's worth it. Some really nice, inspirational stuff.

Just wow
I knew Nicks music, I knew a bit about him through his media presence. But this is a whole new level!
Bravo to Nick and Sean!

Perfect
As a fellow musician, I would love to talk to Nick Cave about his music too. Truly wonderful.
