Summary

After the events in Gathering Prey, Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation: he is no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend the governor is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff.

'Should be fun!' he says, and it kind of is - until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor...and anyone who gets in the way.

Another thrilling read

My fi, and excellent narrationrst Prey book was lent to me by a friend many years ago, and I have read every one since.

This latest incarnation does not disappoint, with a gripping, well constructed storyline, and excellent, well chosen, narration, that really adds to the experience.

Character development contines apace, and I cannot wait for the next installment.

Thank yoiu John Sandford, Richard Ferrone, and Audible, for a few fantastic hours.

Davenport is back!

As a huge fan of John Sandford's books, and having read all the Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers books, I've been enjoying experiencing them again on audio. I've worked my way through the Flowers book, finding Eric Conger's narration hugely enjoyable.

I decided to start listening to the Davenport books with the most recent, which I read when it came out a few months back. I was a bit nervous at first, having got so used to Conger's voice, but soon found fresh enjoyment to be had in the unique and excellent style of Richard Ferrone.

As to the book itself, this is May favourite Davenport from the past three or four years. A great read, and very enjoyable. Also, as the character has embarked on a new section of his life, it's a great jumping in point for new readers.
