Summary
A Horus Heresy Audiobook Collection
These stories explore a different view of the Horus Heresy - each one focuses on Space Marines who have cast their legions aside to pursue new missions and goals. Though their deeds are often done in secret, they’ll have profound effects on the course of history.
Listen to it because: Nathaniel Garro and the Knights-Errant offer a tantalising answer to a question many fans of Warhammer 40,000 and the Horus Heresy have asked themselves - did every member of the traitor Legions turn against the Imperium? This collection of stories follows some few Astartes who turned on their Legion rather than their emperor or else became blackshields - renegades in that grey space somewhere between loyalty and betrayal.
Contents:
- Garro: Oath of Moment by James Swallow
- Garro: Legion of One by James Swallow
- Garro: Burden of Duty by James Swallow
- Garro: Sword of Truth by James Swallow
- Garro: Shield of Lies by James Swallow
- Garro: Ashes of Fealty by James Swallow
- Grey Angel by John French
- Blackshields: The False War by Josh Reynolds
- Blackshields: The Red Fief by Josh Reynolds
- Blackshields: The Broken Chain by Josh Reynolds

Good but it’s the Garro Book mostly
Was a good listen. I’d read the Garro book prior to this and found quickly that the contents of this mainly were on that book barring last few listens (grey angels and the blackshields stuff).
Better to use a credit on this than the Garro book if you are looking at both,

A fantastic listen from being to end.
loved the whole collection from the very beginning to the very end.
The narration and acting as always is very good as I have come to expect from this set of stories about Nathaniel garro and associated storylines.

A great collection...
from some of my favourite side characters of the Horus Heresy.
Great production value, although there's some minor sound quality issues in the Blackshields audio.

Audio Drama Magic
I cannot express how happy I am that I decided to make listening through this part of my Horus Heresy clean up phase as I grab everything not in the main series, before mocking on to the Siege.
I've reviewed everything in here on Goodreads individually at least once as an audio drama and as a short story in the anthologies.
The Garro 'novelisation' is great, but there's real magic in the full cast performances, great and hilarious music choices, and atmospheric and just plain goofy sound effects that I absolutely adore about the audio dramas. Longworth narrates both, but he is really giving more theatre kid energy here and I love that.
Grey Angel is great. It's John French. It's not my favourite of his stories and I do want a little more, but it is fascinating.
I have completely 180'd on my feelings about the Blackshields trilogy and now absolutely adore them and truly wish there were more!
As ever, these collections are just incredible value compared to the individual costs and are just filled to the gills with awesome
