Joseph Connolly has an ear for all varieties of speech that I found spellbinding. To push a story along with such pace using only the recollections of the many characters in ‘England’s Lane’ is a feat of great skill. I loved it. Best book I have listened to for years. Mr Connolly is a truly great author and I hope to see more of his work available on Audible.

The part where the butcher chopped up the blackmailer. This voice was the worst of all and sounded like something out of Dickens
