Summary

When undercover FBI agent Matt Hogan totals three vehicles in an out-of-policy Beverly Hills pursuit of a fleeing Arab drug-runner, he incurs the wrath of the Bureau hierarchy. To avoid an almost certain suspension, he accepts a new assignment tracking terrorist-cell groups while posing as a volunteer at a nonprofit charity. What he doesn’t know is that the ripples of danger from this case will threaten not only his life but the safety and security of the entire nation.

Christian Propaganda Disguised As A Thriller

If judging this book purely as a thriller then I'd give it a below average 3 stars. However, it's much more than a thriller. To put it bluntly it's Christian propaganda. The main characters are Christians and you can hear the authors voice and views coming through them. The book is filled with bible reading and prayers. What I find especially offensive is the attitude to "good" Muslims (as opposed to the "bad" terrorist type) - the main characters/author feel that if you come across such people then convert them to Christianity! There's no acceptance of Islam in this book. Instead it's all about coveting Muslims to Christianity. The author is a right wing American and other views include a complete disdain for anyone who dares to protest against war. In "war on terrorism" thrillers there will be characters who are right wing Christian fundamentalists and good authors develop these characters properly rather than leaving you unconformable as this author has done. Another issue I have is the way the history of Afghanistan is explained in conversation between the various characters. The dialogue is of a level that you would use to explain to a child such matters.

This is the author's first work of fiction and I can forgive him for not writing a particularly great thriller this early in his career. However, what I am not prepared to forgive the use of this book to promote his right wing Christian views.
