Lucas "Luke" Patterson, an ordinary geeky college student, gets a summer job at Vortex Industries. His summer job is to test a new virtual reality game using the Vortex Capsule, a machine capable of fully immersing you into virtual reality.

His first session is life-changing, and he quickly becomes engrossed in a new fantasy world. Things are going great until a rogue hacking group attacks the servers that host the game, trapping all the players inside. Things get even worse when a dark force gains power and have sinister plans for Endless Fantasy Online.

Can Luke and his new friends survive the dark forces that are on the rise? Will he, and the other players, be able to cope with the fact that they can't return to Earth? Will Vortex Industries find the hacking group responsible and save the players?

Very talented narrator. The story doesn't focus too much on reality and VR tech explanations, which I prefer. There also is no forced life or death stakes respawns are unlimited but unpleasant, again IMO I find that good in the VRMMO LitRPG genre. The game mechanics are well considered and integrate well into the narrative. The story is engaging and the characters are likeable, the relationships with NPCs are well done and serve a good purpose in the narrative. The pet class does set this apart from many other books in the genre and without that I would say it is good but a bit generic, however the class system is kind of unique and interesting and the initial emphasis on crafting/professions really helps EFO stand out.
If you enjoy the litRPG genre then I would recommend this book.

the book itself was good, had good character development, its fair share of twists and turns that kept me interested. the one thing I could not stand though was the narrator, the best way to describe his style is one of those old time radio announcers, and his voices for some of the characters, ex a certain female(no spoilers) made me cringe, if the story wasn't so good not sure if I would have been able to make it through it.

I quite often I go back to a book I have finished months or even years later, but never have I wanted to go back to page 1 as soon as I have finished a story. Endless Fantasy Online gripped me from the start, right through to the end without becoming stale anywhere. The story is well thought out, growing with intensity at a steady pace. The character development was smooth, and the interaction between characters felt natural rather than forced or jaded.

Those of you who are new to the Role Playing genre of books, or Virtual Reality will be rewarded with an explanation of the concepts of the genre that are explained as the story progresses. These explanations are introduced throughout and become a natural part of the story rather than feeling forced. Those of you who are experienced with this genre, will feel comfortable with these explanations as they form part of the natural character progression that is familiar with this genre.

The narration is wonderful, each character has his or her own voice and accent that becomes immediately identifiable. There is enough emotion that you feel immersed and form a certain bond with the characters.

The only downside to this, is that I immediately want to listen to the next book.

It is a very common trope of litrpgs books for the main character to get stuck in the game and it is used again in the first book of this series, luckily though the book is not hampered by opting for the familiar as a starting point and proceeds strongly with an entertaining story that is helped by a strong supporting cast that nicely supplements the likeable main character. Individually, the cast may not have quite as much depth as will be the case once we get to later books, but work well together as a whole and provide some of the typical character types that would be recognisable to longterm mmo gamers.

The narration is generally good, but could benefit from a slightly larger range of tones for the baddies to make them a little more distinctive, on the whole though it definitely enhances the book.

Overall, an enjoyable read in it's own right and a strong opener to this series too, I will be interested in seeing any sequels to it.

surprisingly I really enjoyed this book, a good start to what could be a great serise.
good world building and characters.
Luke is very likeable and his growth isn't to unbelievable, with a little help from npc's.
The narration is superb.
I'd deffinatly recommend it

I was impressed by this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The story starts with one of the usual tropes: the main character is stuck in the game. The more time he spends in the game the more real the NPC's seem to be and the more the starts caring about them. Another usual trope is that he gains some unusual / over-powered abilities early on. This also doesn't detract from the story and is well handled by the author. There are some well-written, memorable supporting characters, Backstab! being one of the best.

One plus point, the author balanced the need for characters statistics and game mechanics with an enjoyable story-line.

As for the narration, it has an almost comic book / Manga feeling owing to the choices the narrator made for the various characters. The voices also tend to stereo-type the characters so you know what to expect from them. The narration was clear and easy to follow.

All in all, an excellent, enjoyable start to the series.
