Summary
The shocking, never-before-told story of the bizarre world inside the legendary Playboy Mansion - and, finally, the secret truth about the man who holds the key - from one of the few people who truly knows: Hef's former number-one girlfriend and star of The Girls Next Door.
A spontaneous decision at age 21 transformed small-town Oregon girl Holly Sue Cullen into Holly Madison, Hugh Hefner's number-one girlfriend. But like Alice's journey into Wonderland, after Holly plunged down the rabbit hole, what seemed like a fairytale life inside the Playboy Mansion - including A-list celebrity parties and her own number-one-rated television show for four years - quickly devolved into an oppressive routine of strict rules, manipulation, and battles with ambitious, backstabbing bunnies. Life inside the notorious Mansion wasn't a dream at all - and quickly became her nightmare. After losing her identity, her sense of self-worth, and her hope for the future, Holly found herself sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide.
But instead of ending her life, Holly chose to take charge of it.
In this shockingly candid and surprisingly moving memoir, this thoughtful and introspective woman opens up about life inside the Mansion, the drugs, the sex, the abuse, the infamous parties, and her real behind-the-scenes life with Bridget, Kendra, and, of course, Mr. Playboy himself.
With great courage, Holly shares the details of her subsequent troubled relationship, landing her own successful television series, and the hard work of healing, including her turn on Dancing with the Stars. A cautionary tale and a celebration of personal empowerment, Down the Rabbit Hole reminds us of the importance of fighting for our dreams - and finding the life we deserve.

Interesting and wicked!
What did you like most about Down the Rabbit Hole?
I had watched the girls next door series and really enjoyed it. I totally bought into the fairytale image that the producers had set up. I had also read Kendras book and enjoyed that. I had always been curious about Holly as she did seem distant on the show, so was really excited to read about things from her point of view. I enjoyed how candid her story was and how she told it. It made me cringe in parts but I finished it so quickly as I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
What other book might you compare Down the Rabbit Hole to, and why?
The focus of the story was the same as Kendra Wilkinsons 'sliding into home', but the tone was quite different.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not so much a single moment, but hearing how Hef treated Holly at times and how it affected her shocked me.
Any additional comments?
A really enjoyable read from start to finish. I'm not sure how much of it was accurate to what happened but it certainly made for an interesting read!

Brutally honest...I hope!
Dishes the dirt, and I hope it's all true!
Not as trashy as I was expecting, but still pretty brutal!

Everything you wanted to know.
Loved the girls next door show and always followed Holly afterwards so I wondered what her side of the story was about. Told by herself she lets you know everything you want to hear. The only negative thing is the constant voice of Hef She kept doing which got annoying or the impressions of the whining bunny girls. But enjoyed it all the same. It went very quickly.

So so good!!
I thought this was a fantastic book which I finished in 1 sitting!
Fantastic story telling that kept me gripped from start to finish! It completely challenges everything that you felt you knew about the playboy mansion and the realities. I loved the narration from Holly. Other reviews said that the accents were annoying but I loved them!!!

A great book if your a Holly Madison fan
I enjoyed this book ,Holly seemed to have a tough time with so many negative influences around her . very interesting to hear of another side to Hugh and all the degrading behaviour she was subjected to .
