Robert Louis Stevensons Romane und Erzählungen sind weltbekannt geworden. Von 1890 bis zu seinem Tod 1894 lebte er auf der Samoa - Insel Upolu. Dort entstand auch die Novelle Der Flaschenteufel, in der Keawe, der Held der Erzählung, in den Besitz einer Flasche gelang, in der ein Teufel wohnt, der alle Wünsche erfüllen kann. Diese Flasche muss man aber stets billiger verkaufen als man sie gekauft hat, denn es liegt ein Fluch auf der Flasche: wer noch im Besitz der Flasche ist, wenn er stirbt, der muss im ewigen Höllenfeuer schmoren. Wie es Keawe gelingt dem Fluch zu entkommen und wie ihm Kokua, seine Frau, dabei hilft, erzählt dieses Hörbuch.
