About this listen
So wie Heinrich von Kleist die deutsche Sprache bis an die grammatischen Grenzen unter Spannung hält, so extrem lässt er auch seine Hauptfigur, den braven Kaufmann Antonio Piachi, der aus einfacher Güte einen verwaisten Jungen bei sich aufnimmt, nach ausdauerndem Langmut wütend und fanatisch über die Stränge schlagen. Die Lesenden fragen sich am Ende, weshalb den großen griechischen Tragödienschreibern dies nicht auch eingefallen ist. Damals war zwar manchmal der Tod ebenso noch nicht das Ende der Geschichte aber bei Kleist scheint sie sogar erst in ihre wichtigste Phase einzutreten.
