Such an Important Resource
This resource has been a game-changer for me. My father-in-law was just diagnosed a few weeks ago, and we have been devastated. After listening to this book, I feel much more confident we can do this. This is not going to be easy, but the author really helps provide the support and an easy-to-implement way to avoid becoming overwhelmed. I highly recommend this for anyone just beginning the caretaking or those who think they have it all under control. I feel they would also get so much out of this!

Much needed caregiving information
Dementia Caregiving Companion, to me, was a powerful audiobook to listen to as I found my mind wondering how I would react and manage if and when I am faced with this situation. Knowing that one day I will have to at least perform an assistant role as a caregiver, I feel the book provided me both insight and a plan for when that day comes.
I felt the best portion of the book for me was the chapters on communication, and what to expect from an Alzheimer patient and what kinds of communication I should use when handling the patient. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to learn more.

Emphasis on caregiver self-care
The best information, for me, was the emphasis on caregiver self-care. The book acknowledge the importance of protecting your own well-being and provides steps to help you do so. As someone who often struggles to find time for self-care, I found these tips valuable. The advice on integrating technology for enhanced safety and support was another standout feature, offering modern solutions I hadn’t considered before.

Advice you'll be glad you have
I hope I never need this audiobook, but I'm so glad I have it. Clardy breaks down the overwhelming world of dementia care into manageable pieces, and the chapter on legal and financial planning was particularly valuable - it laid out exactly what documents and arrangements need to be in place, which is crucial since time isn't always on your side when dealing with a dementia diagnosis in the family. This is the kind of resource you tuck away hoping you'll never need to reference, but it provides real peace of mind knowing it's there if that day comes. Worth every minute spent listening.

Support and Practical Help for Dementia Care
I was feeling overwhelmed looking after my mother, who struggles with memory loss. This book provided guidance I could use day-to-day—like ways to keep her engaged and suggestions on managing challenging moments at home. It also reminded me that caring for myself is vital, so I can continue being there for her. The pages are filled with practical insights that helped me feel less alone in this journey. I appreciate how it speaks directly to caregivers, addressing our fears, concerns, and needs. If you’re looking after a loved one with cognitive decline, you’ll find real support here.
