This is the best account of that day I have found. Excellent audiobook which holds the attention and gives a clear picture of what actually happened from all sides. In an age when history appears to be in the process of being rewritten, books like this containing first hand experiences are worth their weight in gold. So well written and very good narration.

A great detailed account of that infamous Day, and how the main parties performed during that attack.

Overall a good story that tells what happened but the non-stop personal accounts tend to become repetitive and detract from the enjoyment.

Good and factual but too many personal accounts.

As the title of my short review states, the book is very informative. There's a lot of subjects that are delved into and talked about in great detail, both from the American and Japanese perspective. I just felt that some eye witness reports all gave the same view and perspective, and were simply reiterated. I understand that it's to compel the emotion of the time, but it felt a bit stagnant at points.

I found the narration good, though admittadly the accent took some getting used to, yet it became fitting in my eyes.

I'd say it's a good book for background listening.

Incredibly informative, with slight repetition.

No one can doubt the amount of effort involved in obtaining the information to tell the story. However, there is so much detail it is impossible to hold all of it it your mind. Sometimes you wonder whether all of it is required. For example, one reference is to someone reading a book. Not only are we given the title of the book but also the chapter!

The attack was a surprise, many didn’t initially believe there was an attack and thought the shooting was due to military exercises and there was great confusion. Countless recollections are given, far more than needed to make the point.

I enjoyed the book up to a point but it did become a little tedious.

Very well researched
