Summary

From the bestselling author of Death and Croissants comes a murder mystery perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Julia Chapman, or MC Beaton

On the surface, Richard Ainsworth has life where he wants it. Middle-aged navel gazing and Olympic levels of procrastination are exactly what rural life in France should be about.

Then crisis hits his posh B&B when redoubtable housekeeper, Madame Tablier, is accused of murder. Even more surprisingly, it's the murder of a former fiancé, turned brother-in-law. None of which the stubborn old woman denies.

Valérie d'Orçay is having none of it and their investigation leads them to a strange tourist garden village, where backbiting, recriminations and even former colleagues provide a deadly scenario more tangled than knotweed.

Love this series!

Hooray another in the series and brilliantly-narrated again by the author. A more complicated storyline this time - lots of fun. I just love hearing Valerie saying “Brilliant, Richard”! It almost sounded like some loose ends in the relationships between characters were being tied-up so I hope this series isn’t coming to an end.

Another engaging, funny story with lots of twists.

I love this Follet Valley series. The characters are so well portrayed and the narration is very funny. The plot keeps you guessing to the last because anything could happen and usually does.

Ian Moore nails it again

Yet ANOTHER brilliant Follet Valley mystery. Equal parts mystery and comedy makes this a must listen/read with well crafted characters and storyline. The only thing that lets it down is the fact that the Follet Valley doesn’t exist so I don’t get to explore it!

Wit and Brilliant Characters

Love this writing. Constantly funny and beautifully crafted characters. Had a lot of trouble with the many French names and as a reader/listener you have to stay alert at all times to keep up with the many characters and plot twists. There are two characters I would prefer he left out as their exploits are not something I enjoy reading about. Thankfully they only appeared for a short while in this book and their exploits were not described in detail. Heaven. Therefore making this my favourite book. However, the way Ian weaves the complexities of characters together whilst presenting constant laughs is a gift to us all.

Funny and mysterious

Ian Moore’s performance as the narrator is brilliant. Although he used different British accent and some French accents, it still worked. Lots of the characters are really well done and very funny. It was just a generally enjoyable collection of books. Highly recommended to anyone who loves lighthearted murder mysteries.
