About this listen

From the best-selling author of Death and Croissants, a new murder mystery perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Julia Chapman, or MC Beaton

Saint-Sauver, home to Richard Ainsworth and Valérie d’Orçay’s detective agency, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its town twinning with Anglethorp Spa in Lincolnshire. Events are planned, a huge brocante, street parties and the centrepiece, an exhibition boules tournament between the two towns and a team of international boules all-stars.

Everything is going well, the sun shines, the wine flows and the entente is very cordiale.

Until the mayor turns up dead in an antique dresser having apparently been killed twice. Inevitably Richard and Valérie have very different views on the subject and engage in their own battle, who will solve the crime first?

I had been counting down to this since finishing the last book and it didn't disappoint! I love the characters and the relationships between them. Quite a few moments that made me giggle out loud and a cheeky little twist at the end. I'm back to waiting for the next one again!

Worth the wait

Absolutely love this book series - the characters are very eccentric yet completely believable. Ian’s narration brings everyone to life-can’t imagine anyone else doing the characters justice. The story tho a murder mystery is steeped in exquisite dry humour and whilst leaving snippets of clues throughout. Can’t wait for the next one

Riiiiiccccchhhharrrrddd - what are you doing…?

Would highly recommend this series of books (and Ian Moores other books too!) stumbled upon death and croissants quite by accident and have loved this series. Thank you for a fabulous new take on the cozy murder genre, Ian !

Brilliant - entertaining, engaging and rather like putting on a familiar cardigan - cosy :)

An entertaining and very good witty playful murder mystery set in France. I’ve read all the books in this series, except the Christmas one and have not been disappointed.

Very Good Totally Enjoyed

I absolutely love this series. It’s brilliantly read by the author who makes the characters come to life so well. I think this book might be my favourite so far - the others have made me chuckle but this one made me laugh out loud in parts. The plot is full of hilarious twists and turns - and all comes together so well. I hope that the author writes many more. I very much enjoy my annual dip into life into Follet Valley. It’s now like catching up with old, slightly quirky, friends!! Long may they continue.

So much fun!

I’m not sure if it was because this book was long awaited for as I do feel it is the best in the series yet. Excellent narration too. Will give the recommended series a try. The comic timing is excellent. A really good listen on the way to work to make you smile and laugh out loud.

The best!
