Summary

It's July 5th, and the Cape Cod roadways are clogged with tourists heading home from the holiday weekend and trying to outrun an approaching potentially catastrophic hurricane. But in the blink of an eye, their lives are thrown into chaos when terrorists bring down the bridges to the Cape. Instantly, a half million terrified people have no way to escape. And when the terrorists threaten to release anthrax on the captive population if their demands aren't met, fear turns to all-out panic.

With time running out, Marcus Baldwin, a private investigator and former CIA operative, and Sara Cross, a disgraced ex-homicide detective, are brought together by a sole clue to the identity of the terrorists. They quickly realize that they may be the only ones with even a chance at stopping the plot before it's too late.

With Hurricane Chad barreling up the coast on a path for a direct hit on Cape Cod, it becomes frighteningly clear to everyone trapped on what has now become an island - one way or another they are probably all going to die.

action

This book is full of action and suspense, and very fasted story.
Cape Cod is about to get hit with Hurricane Chad,at the same terrorists have taken out the bridges in the Cape leaving millions stranded. Ohh there is the threat of anthrax if the terrorists demands aren’t met.

A little labored and stilted

I received a free copy of the work for review

Greg Hernandez does a creditable job performing this work. Although the writing style feels limiting.

The story itself has potential and is topical. However the style felt like a newspaper report. Very distanced from the subjects. Furthermore the sentence construction was repetitive. For example I have just listened to the word "she" six times in close succession. It grates after a while.

Overall I rated this as three stars but one was due to the reader.

Exciting story, dull narration

The plot story and characters are well written and there's plenty going on, lots action and excitement.

I enjoyed the story and would love to hear a sequel to catch up with Marcus, Sara & Anne and see what happens to them next.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Interesting story and listen

I am so glad I continued with the first book in the series, now I am listening to the other books in the series. Yes the narration takes a while to get into but it does suit the story so once I am in, I am in. This was a very complicated story and I did have to write down the characters to make sure that I understand who was who and how they fit in.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and then off to the next one.

OK story, stilted narration

Having vacationed on the Cape for over 10 years I was keen to listen to this audio book. However the narration was stilted and seemed more like an automated reader than a real person. Inflections were in strange places and there was little performance. I would not listen to a book read by this narrator again.
The plot was fairly far fetched and the characters could have been better developed. There was no need, in my opinion, to have had some of the characters at all and more effort instead could have been spent in developing the main characters. I don’t think I will try anything else written by this author.
