Summary

Can Evie convince her rival loves to work together? Their survival depends on it in this third book of number one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole's Arcana Chronicles, a nonstop action tale of rescue, redemption, and a revenge most wicked.

Heartbreaking decisions: Evie was almost seduced by the life of comfort that Death offered her - until Jack was threatened by two of the most horrific Arcana, The Lovers. She will do anything to save him, even escape Death's uncanny prison, full of beautiful objects, material comforts... and stolen glances from a former love.

Uncertain victory: Despite leaving a part of her heart behind with Death, Evie sets out into a frozen and perilous post-apocalyptic wasteland to meet up with her allies and launch an attack on The Lovers and the vast army they command. Such formidable enemies require a battle plan, and the only way to kill them once and for all may mean Evie, Jack, and Death allying. Evie doesn't know what will prove more impossible: surviving slavers, plague, Bagmen and other Arcana - or convincing Jack and Death to work together.

Two heroes returned: There's a thin line between love and hate, and Evie just doesn’t know where she stands with either Jack or Death. Will this unlikely trio be able to defeat The Lovers without killing one another first?

Series improving with each book

Great read. Initially found the central concept of tarot representing kids a bit odd but series gets better and better.

A fantastic audiobook

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead of Winter: Arcana Chronicles, Book 3 to be better than the print version?

I loved both. I love reading my books and then listening to its audiobook. This is is the 3rd book in the series and I must say the story is getting better and better. Emma Galvin does a brilliant job narrating this story.

What other book might you compare Dead of Winter: Arcana Chronicles, Book 3 to, and why?

This book is fantasy (mythology and tarot cards) Richelle Mead has a series called The Age of X with similar but I swear her series doesn't compare to this one or this book. I loved Dead of Winter. I can't wait to read the next instalment and more of Aric.

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

Oh I love Emma Galvin. She is really good. Poison Princess and Endless Knight were amazing too.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely!!!!!

Any additional comments?

More books. Queen of the Terling, Red Queen..The Winner's curse need to be in your list too.

Didn’t love this one

Despite some interesting and dramatic developments in ‘The Game’ this book mostly consists of the love triangle between our heroine, Jack and Death. Very Twilight with endless posturing between the two males and one horny teenage heroine who spends a great deal of time lusting after whichever suitor is directly in front of her, despite having better things to worry about. I got very bored, but the book ends on quite the cliff hanger so I rather resentfully will probably read the next.

What a disappoinrment!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I have loved all Kresley Cole books but this one was not for me.I think this book is for younger readers.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Galvin?

Did not enjoy narrator.
