A young woman is savagely murdered on a popular beach near Forks, WA.

Former homicide detective Brandon Mattson takes command of his hometown police force just one year after his brother was killed in the line of duty. Still haunted by his brother’s unsolved murder, he struggles to rein in the fledgling department while learning the ropes as a newly divorced single parent.

Having enjoyed other Richard Ryker books I was keen to listen to this one. The main characters were good and the story kept you guessing.

New chief of police Brandon Mattson has barely arrived in town to take up his new position when a murder occurs, not only does he have to find the killer but he’s also battling the mayor who’s priority seems to be the towns image and damage to tourism.
This story moves along at a steady pace with multiple suspects and plenty of trouble both inside and outside of the police department.
Definitely worth a read or listen.

The narrator does a great job but the author may want to check out this audio file though because there were a couple of errors, the main one being, Ch 29 at (12:37) there’s no audio till (13:00) at which point ch 29 starts again.
