A must for radio comedy fans.
I've been a fan of Punt and Dennis since their early Jasper Carrot appearances, to The Mary Whitehouse and then The Now Show, with all the other bits, solo or not, thrown in. This is just one element of what great writers - and performers- they are. The upperclass actor vs the very dubious reporter telling stories. The episodes are based in some historical events, or on works of fiction, such as Silence of the Lambs.
It's easy now to find spoof documentaries, with people of a certain age rhinking it started with The Office. However, in the UK at least, they've been around for longer, and this would have been in the early days, mainly done ,on radio at least, by what was considered the alternative comedy scene. There are elements of satire in here as well as a lot of puns and silliness. The performances (including Olivia Coleman in her early radio comedy days) are great and the length of the episodes are just right.
The humour is very British, but I still think a lot of it would "translate".
Now, if only Audible would release the Mary Whitehouse Experience!
