About this listen

Special Agent Diana Sheen runs a secret agency...locked squarely in the crosshairs of a magical conspiracy far greater than she'd imagined.

The bad guys are seeking artifacts to increase their power, and it feels like they're leading up to something big.

Can she stop them in time?

The attacks are getting personal. Other bureaus have taken heavy losses, and only her team's magical abilities have kept them from the same fate.

That includes a troll uncovering magical do-gooders or an acerbic Drow learning to use her magic.

Everything is getting better, including their gear thanks to Kayleigh. But is better good enough? No way to tell, except by putting boot to tail.

Magic or mundane, you hurt people in their town, and FAM is gonna bring you down. It's all in a day's work at the newest bureau of the Federal Agents of Magic.

I got theses books for free as they sounded interesting. However while I liked Raph the size changing troll I found the stories predicable (as in another battle with magical folk).
The narrator was excellent and may well look at other books she narrated. Each character was separate and each she voiced with their own personality making them appear more rounded.
But nothing would want me to continue and waste credits on these.

Forgettable

I am loving these stories. The interaction between Rath and Max is so funny and the interaction between Rath and Diane has gradually improved as they got to know each other. I think the series so far is almost believable and is well worth a listen. I am going to start from book one again to pick up the bits that you always miss at first. Looking forward to the next book.

This book is flippin' amazing! (just like the 2 before this one)

Fast paced with fantastic and interesting characters (love Rath!!!!).

The Remembrance are ramping up their attacks and the team have to stop them and fast. Shocking ending which has made it personal for Diana and the team.

Narration is superb as always.

I will be Iron Troll!

This is the last one I got for free and will be the last one in the series I listen to...
The series isn't bad, nor good...
It is however fairly unmemorable unfortunately...
the high points that are supposed to feel like the climax of the book feels like a mid point in any other book...

not getting better or worse

More of the same… “nothing happens”. The book finished before anything of any real consequence actually happens. It’s simply Descriptions of fight scenes lined up in a row. The story ( not sure there’s enough of it to actually call it a story) has no direction. The characters are very one dimensional and lack warmth, compassion, joy, depth of feeling. They are so emotionally underdeveloped that even their friendships are cold and lacking depth or emotional warmth and are, instead, based on name calling, teasing and bravado. We are also forced fed their constant pop culture movie and TV references. Amusing at first but eventually it’s juvenile and annoying as it happens too often.
They take joy in maiming and killing. Never do we hear one character express sadness or remorse that they’ve taken so many lives (yes I know those lives were those of the bad guys but people who are not narcissists are affected emotionally when they take a life.)
There is some enthusiasm from the characters in the 3 books I’ve listened to so far - but only in describing weapons and how effective they are. Dire as the books are, the narrator is excellent.

The last free one so the last I’ll listen to
