About this listen

Bloomsbury presents Coraline by Neil Gaiman, read by Dawn French.

When Coraline moves with her parents to a new house she is fascinated by the fact that their 'house' is infact only half of the house! Divided in to flats years before there is a brick wall behind a door where once there was a corridor and one day it is corridor again down which the intrepid Coraline wanders. And so a nightmare-ish mystery begins that takes Coraline in to the arms of counterfeit parents and a life that isn't quite right. Can Coraline get out? Can she find her real parents? Will life ever be the same again?

Great story and brilliantly narrated. Very easy to listen to and enthralling. I'll be buying more of Neil Gaiman stories.

As one would expect from Neil Gaiman this is a beautiful story. It's atmospheric and has some life-lessons. Dawn French was the perfect choice for reader. It's not a story that is suitable for under 10s because it's frightening at times.

I really enjoyed this

I love this book. The story, it’s vibe, and I LOVE Dawn French narrating this! I’ve listened more times than I’ll ever admit (it’s a bit embarrassing really) but it’s my go to comfort book when I’m in a rut. Can’t recommend enough! For people of all ages, everyone will like this

I initially got into Coraline through the movie (amazing) and to hear the book read by Dawn French who was in the movie adds extra charm. I listen to it quite a few times, particularly to unwind at night.

I can’t recommend it enough!

The perfect scary story for children

This tale is a cozy and terrifying weird fiction story for children, a little like Alice in Wonderland, but without the satire.

Coraline is a distinct and stubborn child with a brave heart and who cares for those around her. All of the characters are quiet neat, a bit charicaturical at first, but more human when we meet them again at the end.

In the end everything is more vibrant and alive after she returns from the other place.

And as a personal note, it hits quite close to home.

A wonderful weird story

This is a lovely book to listen too to sleep, the performance is very relaxing and for me felt like when I was a child getting read to before bed.

A easy listen
