Summary
Humanity isn't all they left behind.
Two years later, the world lives in fragile peace. But a clandestine search has begun...and a clock has started ticking.
Two years after first contact, Astral forces have established their fragile kingdom around the globe. Motherships occupy the cities. Shuttles patrol the lawless outlands. The pacifist class of Astrals known as Titans assist humans in running their alien empire while bloodthirsty Reptar peacekeepers ensure that order is kept. And unseen in the ships above, a third class of visitor calls the shots - the unseen Divinity, worshipped and feared by citizens in equal measure.
Meyer Dempsey sits on his plinth as Viceroy of Heaven's Veil, on the old site of Vail, Colorado. As with other Viceroys in the eight other world capitals, humanity's remains revere Meyer almost as a god. But below the surface, both colonies and outlands have begun to crumble with unrest.
Until now the rebellion has been quiet. Now desperation bubbles as they learn the Astrals have begun digging for an ancient device buried beneath the glowing blue Apex at Heaven's Veil.
But twin truths of the forthcoming alien war (or a possible alien apocalypse) have dawned at Benjamin Bannister's facility in Moab, sending plans into action: The Astrals have lost what they hoped to uncover.
And humanity's only chance is to find it first.

it held such promise
I always feel bad ,
especially when giving a bad review ,
I struggled massively with the premise of " 3 months later " what happened in these 3 months lest for cheaply skipping the story on, this happened twice me thinks though after the first time the most important thing is , " 4 lines later "
and that's probably the most poignant thing I may have said , or not .
sorry not for me.

Invested
I stumbled upon this series ,science fiction is not normally my thing. this is my third book of this series and I'm invested. Good character development for such a large cast of players . The plot line is itching to be turned into a Hollywood blockbuster or friday night series. I know what I'm spending my next credit on.

Does not turn to religion
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
the book as quite a slow tempo much like the previous two ..once again it is more about internal politics then alien invasion..but please note the review pointing out religon as a main focus point is very misleading..there is all most no talk of religion only a few parts in the contest of how some religious fundamentalists view an alien invasion and religion does not play a role in this series of books ..but dont expect much of aliens either
What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?
fantastic

I enjoyed this one the least out of the 3 so far.
the Storey dragged a great deal more than the previous ones and seem to lack the Punch that they had before. I thought the characters started to become a bit silly and the plot seem to wonder too much. overall I was quite disappointed.

Much ado about nothing
I’ve listened to the first three books and I was still waiting for it to get going. Seems I need to spend another 30euros to find out, but I won’t because the reader has changed to an older, much more raspy reader I can’t bare to listen to.

Nothing actually happens.
The only saving grace in these books now is Ray Porters narrating. And that ends here as they changed narrator for the next book. Big mistake. Within 1min of listening to the next book I returned it. Without Ray it’s not the same story. Kevin just doesn’t have the range of voices for characters you have spent 3 books getting to know and easily identifying who was talking. Shame I was in it for the long haul with Ray hoping something would happen in these books but it’s just not materialised. Here’s where I get off.
