Summary

Un hameau provençal cerné de blé, de lavande, de genièvre. Le père Janet contemple cette nature depuis des années, il en connaît les sortilèges, et les secrets qui bruissent sur la colline. En montrant jadis où il fallait creuser pour capter l'eau, il a donné une fontaine, la vie, au village. Mais aujourd'hui Janet est vieux, couché près de l'âtre, il attend la mort en délirant. Ses paroles mystérieuses, menaçantes, inquiètent ses proches : c'est peut-être le signe qu'un danger plane sur le village. La fontaine tarit, une fillette tombe gravement malade, un incendie détruit les terres... Et si le vieux sorcier, se sentant finir, avait décidé de précipiter le village avec lui dans la mort ?
