About this listen
Malcom has got a plan, and slowly but surely, year after year of college, he’s executing it.
He’s made it to the first line on his hockey team, the Portland Evergreens. He’s made the Dean’s List the last four semesters. He’s right in line to graduate on time, and head to the pros. All steps on the ultimate goal of becoming the best front office guy in the NHL.
Elliott is the only fly in his ointment.
The younger, wilder forward parties every night, sleeping with everything with a pulse and barely attending classes or practices.
It’s annoying, but Mal’s dealing with it, until their new coach insists Mal tutor him to help him pass a class.
Until Elliott discovers that Mal’s a virgin. That he’s been too busy checking off points on his life plan to get laid.
They’re fire and ice. Bad boy and virgin. They shouldn’t work at all. But the more time they spend together, on and off the ice, the more irresistible their chemistry becomes.
The more desperate Mal becomes to beg Elliott to tutor him in bed.
To melt some—or all—of the ice he’s wrapped himself in.

Cold As Ice
Cold As Ice, the 2nd book in the Portland Evergreens series. Cold As Ice can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading book 1, Melting the Ice. The audiobook is excellently narrated by Darcy Stark. Both POVs have distinct voices & Stark also has individual voices for other characters.
Mal & Elliott are opposites who are not only teammates but are on the same line. Coach B makes Mal tutor Elliott in Statistic & their relationship goes from silently pining loudly arguing to HEA. Another reason to read Cold As Ice, is the great twist/secondary plot.

I love Beth Bolden’s sports romances!
Even still knowing a whole lot of nothing about hockey, I get completely involved with this author’s characters. The sparks between Elliott and Malcolm are the kind that can start a fire… only it’s not the hockey ring burning down, it’s their sheets burning up! Quite frankly, it was quite obvious even from the previous books that these two were pulling their pigtails and constantly bickering to hide, or avoid, the fact they are into each other… that does not detract anything to the awesomeness that is this book.
I loved both Mal and El, they sure complement each other and they make each other better, on and off the ice. They are very sweet but also super steamy.
Great performance by Darcy Stark. He really brings all the characters to life with amazing talent.

Like an onion
Story: I love characters that are multi-dimensional and Malcolm was just that - like an onion that got its layers peeled off one by one. I loved how Elliott's image developed and changed, like they were both influencing the other, building up on strenghts and supporting the weaker spots.
The author balanced emotional maturity with the MCs' age really well, creating believable and likable characters. I had A LOT of fun with these two.
Narration: Great performance and brilliant fit for the characters. The voices an overall emotional layer really enhanced the story.

Great college ice hockey romance
Dropped into this series with this book. I don't think missing book one hurts the reading experience at all.
I really liked this book. It's a sweet hockey, enemies to lovers, and opposites attract.
Mal is a senior, raised by a rigid military father, and this shows in his work ethic and serious demeanor. Elliott is a couple of years younger than Mal, a bit more immature and flighty, lets be honest he picks his college based on the fact that he sees Mal and wants him. When Elliott's first opportunity to seduce Mal goes wrong they end up not even managing to be friends despite being on the same team.
What follows is plenty of pigtail pulling while Elliott flirts and sleeps his way through his first year and Mal gets more and more infuriated with his behaviour. Throwing the two together for Mal to tutor Elliott brings about a new understanding and a lovely slow developing relationship.
If the reason for Elliott's poor performance is slightly out of left field but it didn’t effect my enjoyment of the story.
The narrator does a great job.
I'll definitely be looking to get more of this series.

Emotional college hockey story
This is the second book in the Portland Evergreen college hockey series. This is a grumpy/sunshine story. Mal has grown up with his military father and has always been very structured with everything in his life and he has sort of forgotten to live his life too. Teammate Elliott has always had a thing for Mal but never thought he would get a chance with Mal but when he is failing his statistics course their coach asks Mal to tutor Elliot. It's a bumpy journey but Elliot is slowly getting Mal to open up and there's a clear attraction between them but a deep connection too. I loved how supportive they were of each other but I also loved all the side characters. I really enjoyed following their love story. I thought the narration was really good too.

Wonderful narration
This book is the second in the Portland Evergreens series and can easily be read as a standalone.
Malcolm is someone who plans and schedules his life to the letter. Elliott is the exact opposite of him. He takes everything as it comes, is carefree and very impulsive. He also has an open attitude to life, whereas Malcolm is still a virgin.
No wonder they are constantly arguing. They both play on the same ice hockey team and when the coach assigns Malcolm to tutor Elliott, they spend more time together. And that was great to see. How Malcolm loosens up a bit, how Elliott sees more behind Malcolm than it initially seems.
They both feel attracted to each other and they also make clear progress on the ice, which doesn't go unnoticed.
I thought the development of the two main protagonists was wonderful and the way their relationship gradually changed was well done by the author. Things get exciting again when Elliott, despite all his hard work off the ice, has to worry about his place in the team.
I found Malcolm and Elliott likeable and the two of them couldn't help but get the odd bit of relationship advice. It was nice to see them both overcome their fears and reservations and to see them both work out that a relationship can work.
Darcy Stark narrated the story and he brought the characters to life with his pleasant voice. He captured the personalities and their emotions very well and he read the story in an entertaining way.

wonderful narration
Malcolm's life is planned to the letter. Elliott takes each day as it comes with no strings attached.Their initial encounters are all sparks and clashes. Malcolm is initially repelled by Elliott's carefree nature, finding his impulsive decisions and total disregard for rules infuriating. On the other hand, Elliott doesn't understand Malcolm's rigid attitude, they constantly bicker. So, when you start reading their story it really is difficult to see how these two will work out, talk about opposites attract!
However, beneath the surface of their constant bickering lies a simmering attraction. When circumstances force them together, Malcolm finds himself drawn to Elliott's carefree nature, and infectious lust for life, while Elliott finds himself intrigued by Malcolm. As they work together they begin to learn from each other. Malcolm learns to loosen his grip, while Elliott discovers that he wants more from Malcolm. I loved both guys, but Malcolm held my heart, during their first date in the arcade, I just wanted to reach into the story and hug him. I also rolled my eyes at Ramsey, as he once again gave out relationship advice. I truly cannot wait for his story. The development of both the MCs was excellent, I enjoyed how they accepted and celebrated each other's unique personalities, and came together. Overall, it's such an entertaining read, some how Beth made it feasible for two totally different people to effortlessly fall in love, and somehow made their push and pull relationship perfect. One little quibble, was the part of the story where Elliot had a major problem with his grades and one of his professors. It took me out of the story a little, but didn't spoil the book for me. Darcy Stark once again brought the characters to life, capturing their voices, personalities, and character development perfectly.

Fantastic naration, the story comes alive!
Compelling and fast paced.
This is a great enemies to friends to lovers story with opposites attract and all the spice you've come to love from Ms Bolden!
I loved Elliott and Mal. They are polar opposites but bring out the best in each other when their pride and egos are removed. All these characters are dynamic and intriguing. I love the whole team and Beth is great at teasing and dropping hints here and there of other characters and their stories. Although I'm really keen to find out more about Ramsey or see him meet his match.
Very hockey forward which is good but can't be hard when I know nothing about it.
Beautiful characters, lovely story and heart felt moments to balance out the spice, hockey, arguing and other stuff. It's all enjoyable and the ending is all you could want!!

Great narration for this hockey romance!
I have not read or listened to book one in this series and knew nothing about it going in. Based on the cover I expected hockey, but wasn't expecting college-aged characters. But if there's one trope I love, it is the tutoring trope, especially when they are both players on the team or there is a little bit of enemies/rivalry going on!
Overall this was really sweet, with relatively low angst (any angsty was external to the relationship), and they had great communication! And the narration by Darcy Stark was incredibly enjoyable to listen to!
