About this listen

This live recording could not be more fun! A seasoned storyteller who loves rhythm and song joins with a traditional musician playing instruments ranging from mountain dulcimer to a cardboard box drum to create multicultural magic. The stories come from Siberia, the Makah tradition of Alaska, Cajun Louisiana, Palestine, the British Isles, and the American South.

You went to sleep with MacDonald and Scholtz's previous recording Tuck Me in Tales: Bedtime Stories from Around the World. Now wake up with Cockroach Party!

Editor reviews

In this entertaining collection of fables from all over the world, Margaret Read MacDonald is a wonderfully energetic presence who will keep children rapt and amused. MacDonald performs with remarkable wit and verve throughout this diverse assemblage, such as the Siberian story of an old bear and helpful chipmunk, or a Palestinian tale of a lovesick cricket searching for the right mate. Richard Scholtz also provides whimsical musical accompaniment on autoharp, dulcimer, and cardboard box drum, and when added to MacDonald's charismatic performance, Cockroach Party becomes an even more magical experience.
