Dickens's ghost story was of quiet nature...but still no less frightening. Read, listen and enjoy.

Great little gem of a story,

Contender for the greatest ghost story of all time, The Signalman is up there with the best of M. R. James, E Nesbitt and J. Sheridan Le Fanu. It is a timeless tale of the haunting of a lonely soul, and a foreboding sense of dread and despair. The prose perfectly captures the sense of dread, and the plot is long enough to be satisfying, but short enough to keep the momentum. There aren't enough good things to say.

I've listened to many performances of this story, and Stephen Critchlow does one of the finest I've heard. His voice perfectly embodies the narrator's unease at the mental breakdown of the poor signalman. Can't recommend enough.

A beloved classic with standout narration
