About this listen

A bond with a dragon turns a high school student into Queen of the Fae…

When a dragon crashes through a portal near her Texas high school, Ophelia can hardly believe her eyes. Dragons and magic just exist in fairy tales, right?

But the moment she bonds with the dying monarch dragon named Sun in the Black Sky, Ophelia discovers they are very real…and very deadly. Before she can make sense of what’s happening, Ophelia is dragged into the magical and treacherous realm of Charassi. A world where her dragon bond marks her as Queen of the Fae.

Grappling with her newfound extraordinary powers, Ophelia will need all the help she can get to defend her throne and protect her bonded dragon. With the Fae Prince Corrin by her side, they embark on a perilous quest to seek the help of the dragons, only to encounter a shocking revelation that unveils a nefarious curse.

Deadly secrets lurk in the shadowy corners of her realm: walking corpses, dark magic, and a puppet master determined to seize power once and for all.

To harness her true power, Ophelia must find the strength within to become the leader her people need. And if she fails, her kingdom and all those she loves, shall fall…

Explore a world of dragons, magic, intrigue, and the enduring power of love in this complete fantasy collection featuring all six books of the exciting Fae Queen series: The Bone Crown, The Usurper’s Throne, The Stolen Palace, The Dragon King’s Egg, Heart of Realms, and The Ancestral Forces.

This is a very good value title as you get over 55 hours of listening at normal speed in which to immerse yourself into the world created by Ava Richardson. There is magic, dragon bonding and riding, personal and political relationships to be negotiated, lots of action and also moral introspection all mixed with romance and having to overcome powerful and malevolent foes - some from unexpected quarters.
You get all six books and they are presented in order so you witness the character development of the Texas high school girl prepared to stand up to bullies who becomes the Fae high queen and working her relationship with her dragon ( she calls him Sunny ) and the Fae high prince Corinn she beat to bonding with Sunny. These books are: 1 The Bone Crown; 2 The Usurper's Throne; 3 The Stolen Palace; 4 The Dragon King's Egg; 5 Heart of Realms; 6 The Ancestral Forces. These titles give you some clues as to the events and it's not spoiling the overall ending when you know this is also a romance story as that trope has an inviolable rule about the nature of the ending.
The narrator, Mago Weston, also does a good job of keeping the character voices consistent and lending appropriate emotions to the dialogue. She gets better with each book and develops better distinction between dragons and male and female viewpoints.
I received a free copy, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Richly satisying royalty and romance with dragons.

The story is filled with the stereotypical creatures written in every Fae book.
The characters cry at every opportunity.
The female does what she's been told not to so she can save the day and ends up putting everyone in more danger.
It has the most common mistake in books. Someone will be running across the room to kill them, yet they have a 5 minute conversation about their feelings and yet still manage to finish before the person gets to them. This happens a lot.
The narrator speaks in exactly the same tones, going up at the end. Voices are deeply annoying.
Sorry to slate it so much. I love audiobooks but this is poorly written. Maybe good for young teens only.

Predictable and unskilled writing
