About this listen

Lieutenant Eve Dallas must immerse herself in her billionaire husband Roarke’s world of big business to uncover the identity of a hit man in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

On Manhattan’s East Side a woman lies dead at the bottom of the stairs, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better.

A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the building, the lieutenant knows Marta’s murder was the work of a killer who’s trained, but not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

But when someone steals the files out of Marta’s office and the killer’s violent streak begins to escalate, Eve knows she has to draw him out, even if it means using herself as bait…

brilliant. J D does it again, and Susan Ericson nails the voices in the audio version. Looking forward to the next book.

Well worth "a read" or "A listen"

This series just never gets old. I am always gripped by the story from the first world to the last. The total best world building and cast of characters ever written.

What did you like most about Calculated in Death?

I love the In Death series. Calculated in Death is as brilliant as the previous 35. I also have it on kindle

Who was your favorite character and why?

They are all my favourites! Roarke and Eve obviously as the main characters but I love Peabody and McNab and their relationship.

What didn’t you like about Susan Ericksen’s performance?

Her voice/tone is too hard, the voices are not how i imagine them (but i expect that's impossible to achieve and would be different for each reader).

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Love the book, the narration not so much

Love Dallas and Peabody, like chips and ketchup and it's a shame that man like Roarke doesn't exist

Great partnership

was a good story, not entirely clear how she arrived at conclusion initially of who was the one to watch. so many characters involved I lost track of who was who. book came to an end without some of the key interviews and family notification that I'd have liked. in interview she referred yo officer peabody on record, it's detective peabody, so in my mind the record was inaccurate and flawed. not sure how editors let that slip through

officer peabody?
