Summary
A man is killing people in York. Initially the murders appear to be the random acts of a maniac. Detective Jason Smith is put in charge of the investigation. It soon becomes clear that the murders are all connected to him in one way or another. All of the killings correspond to events in Smith's life and the murderer leaves dates at the crime scene which tie up to important dates in Smith's history. When one of the dates is a time before Smith was even born, he realizes he must look deep into the past to find a way to stop the worst spate of murders in York's long history.

Brilliant second book in the series
This is the second book in the series, but can be listened to without having listened to it read the first one.
This book follows on shortly after Book one once everyone has recovered and got back to a semblance of normality.
This time the murders are very personal to Smith as the murders all relate to people in his life who have died starting with s man being hanged which is the same way his dad died. The murderer then also writes the date each event related to on the dead person's feet.
We know who the murderer up is very early on but this doesn't ruin the book as we don't know really why he is doing all of this and also HOW far he will go before he either stops or gets stopped.
The book was brilliant and the ending had me shocked so much I had to send Stewart an email and tell him off for doing it.
It's a brilliant book and I can't wait until tomorrow to listen to book 3.
