About this listen
They want an eye for an eye. He'll fight until the last drop is spilled.
The incredible latest novel in the most visceral, action-packed series around sees the assassin Victor fighting enemies on all sides, with no allies in sight.
To make amends for past mistakes, the enigmatic assassin known only as Victor is now in servitude to the world's most dangerous criminal enterprise, the Russian Mafia. Although a hired gun without loyalties, Victor never picks a fight he cannot win so he intends to pay off his debt, however long it takes.
Yet when his new employer is shot dead in London, Victor has both the means and the motive to make him the most likely suspect. With a turf war breaking out in the power vacuum, and enemies on all sides, either Victor discovers who the real murderer is or suffer the full wrath of the Mafia's vengeance.

It’s all about the details
Love this character. Not infallible but always ready. Tom Wood’s attention to detail and graphic description set him apart from others in the genre. Thank you.

Sublime
This could be the best Victor story yet and that's saying something. Simply love how Victor thinks and acts. There are some priceless scenes and you can see Victor circling the drain..... Must Listen 🎉

Another excellent storyline and delivery.
There are a few authors that I wait with keen anticipation to read or listen to their newest publication. Tom Wood is one of those authors.
The spare almost ascetic narrative relys almost wholly on the behaviour and thought processes of Victor and the storyline.
I recommend this as another tour de force of Tom Wood.

Absolutely cracking!
Victor is an amazing character and I cannot wait for the next book. I listened to this in two blocks because I couldn’t stop.
Hopefully the next book is on its way because as always I am impatient.

Standard remains consistently high
Attention to detail, a moral code and a dry sense of humour wrapped up in the shape of Victor return again, and it has been worth waiting for. One difficulty with a long-running series is that inevitably you will have missed things if you join late. There's not much to stop you because the book can exist on its own merits...but you will just have missed so much development and exposition over the years. If you are interested, it's worth starting at book one and going all this way, absolutely.
The other problem with a long running series is that with a year's gap between each book you are going to forget certain characters from the earlier in the series, and that is an issue here. Some people are back from an earlier story where they had significant roles, but in effect eight years later my memory of them was very dim. I had to work hard trying to think if I was missing some details because of that...and with audiobooks you can't easily nip back and pick up the earlier book and flick through to check it out. Yes, you have the books in your library but they're not easily searchable.
I've given 5 across the board for this though, so you can get away without it, even if you have forgotten the characters. It's a really good listen and I am already waiting for the next in the series :)
If you're not already versed in Victor then get in there! read them all in a row if you can, and you won't forget anything, giving you familiarity this far down the line.
...and by the way. Victor (and maybe Tom Wood, too) may deny that he has a dry sense of humour, but he sure does. Mind you, I don't think I'd risk telling him he's wrong!
PS I am fully attuned to Peter Noble now. He's full-on Victor :)
