Summary

Like most people who own their own business, I work long hours that start early in the morning. So when someone calls me in the middle of the night, they'd better be dying....

Mechanic Mercy Thompson is woken at 3:00 a.m. by a vampire calling in a favour. He has to deliver a message to a fellow undead and needs a witness who won't be noticed - and Mercy's shapeshifting abilities make her the perfect candidate.

But the assignment turns into a bloodbath, and Mercy attracts the attention of not just a powerful vampire but the even more powerful demon possessing him. She can count on the supernatural community for protection - and alpha werewolf Adam would like her to rely on him in other ways too - but when it comes to being proactive, she's on her own.

Entertaining story - bit much romance

I enjoyed this book. It is nice to hear a story featuring a woman in this genre. Decent story, good characters, just a bit too much romance.

Just re- read it again and was as good as new.
If it's your first time to read it, wait a month an read it again to appreciate all the little details you missed when hurtling through the book to find out what happens.

Blood Bound

This is the second book in this series, I have listened to it many times. It makes you cheer hard for the good guys, so they can conquer over evil. Read brilliantly by Lorelei King.

Good reader, good story

I enjoyed this second outing for Mercy Thompson. Lorelei King is an excellent reader with good vocal characterisation. Despite this I did find myself losing track of who was who among the minor characters, which was distracting. But this might have been due to my state of mind at the time of listening.

The main characters, Mercy (coyote shapeshifter), Stefan (vampire), Adam and Samuel (werewolves), are well drawn and engage your attention and interest. Werewolf culture has been given a lot of thought, much more so than the vampires who, with the notable exception of Stefan, are very traditionally drawn as uniformly evil.

Definitely worth a listen.

I am really enjoying this series

What made the experience of listening to Blood Bound the most enjoyable?

The whole package!
The story is quite gripping as Mercy works her way through a series of perilous situations. The narration is perfect, and the characters believable - which is a bit hard to grasp when they are generally werewolves vampires and a shifter

What other book might you compare Blood Bound to, and why?

Obviously its similar to the first in this series Moon Called - which I would recommend reading first as it sets the scene - Blood Called is even better though. Its good to compare this series with the Sookie Stackhouse (Charlaine Harris) and Jane Yellowrock (Faith Hunter) series and so far this series is at least as good as both those

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Hard to say too much without giving spoilers but the scene where Mercy is attacked by the baddie when alone in her home at night is genuinely scary

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A few bits made me laugh - its not a tear jerker book by any means though - just an entertaining page turning romp.

Any additional comments?

Just about to download the next book in the series, I cant wait to find out what happens to our heroine next.
