Summary

When Sienna Hegarty turns up at his family home one night, covered in blood and frozen in shock, psychologist Joe O'Loughlin finds himself drawn deep into her world, trying to unearth the dark secrets her mind has buried. The police find a major piece of the puzzle at Sienna’s house: her father, a retired cop, is face-down in a pool of his own blood, his throat slashed and his skull caved in. The blood covering Sienna was his.

The 14-year-old can’t remember what happened that night but, at the same time, Sienna doesn’t mourn her father’s death. What was going on behind closed doors in the Hegarty household? Is Sienna guilty of brutal murder? And what part has her charismatic teacher, Gordon Ellis, played in this blood-soaked event?

Brilliant

Absolutely brilliant, time just raced by listening to this, I was so disappointed when it ended, my only gripe is that there are too few of this authors audio books available. I cannot wait for the next one. The narrator was just right as well. He brought each character to life.

Robotham is a master storyteller!

This book keeps you gripped from beginning to end. The central character, Joe, a Clinical Psychologist is likeable and believable and I can't wait to read another of these brilliantly plotted stories.

Another good book with these characters

Can certainly be read without having read others about these characters, but I enjoy catching up with them now and again!

Good story, and not as hard to listen to (ie: gruesome) as some of his others I've downloaded. Perhaps it would be an idea not to get to know the main character as people he knows have a habit of getting into nasty situations!

Not as good as Shatter..

Enjoyed it but enjoyed Shatter better. Found this one a bit predictable and I didn't warm to some of the characters. Got a bit fed up with Mr Parkinson's as well.

Excellent narration as usual by Sean Barrett but I will read another in the series.

Gripping from the first chapter.

If you could sum up Bleed for Me in three words, what would they be?

No not that.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bleed for Me?

Can't say without writing a spoiler.

Have you listened to any of Sean Barrett’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I like his voice generally. As good as the others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I needed a rest from the intensity and the worsening of events, but I did want to get to the end.

Joseph O'Loughlin, so flawed yet so brilliant

Where does Bleed for Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Up there among my favourites. I have listened to several Michael Robotham books so far and the quality of every one has been excellent. It probably would have helped if I had read them in the right order as the characters have developed with each one and I have built an affection for the characters with each book I listen to.

What other book might you compare Bleed for Me to, and why?

There is something about Joseph O'Loughlin that reminds me of Sherlock. His deduction and attention to detail are sublime.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I don't want to give any plot lines away but Joseph puts himself in harms way on more than one occasion, and the descriptions in those scenes, paint a dark and harrowing picture that brings the book to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending. He always keeps things going right to the very end.

Any additional comments?

The quality of both the writing and the narration, really brings this book to life. The characters are three dimensional, complicated, deep and passionate. Sean Barrett's tone portrays a vulnerable girl as well as a hardened thug. I would highly recommend the whole series.

Sometimes hard to hear.

Very well read and the characters sparkle. Many unusual twists and moments shared. Some nasty surprises. I really enjoyed this. I will look for more books from Michael

Kaye's view of Bleed for Me

Thoroughly absorbing with a fabulous delivery by the narrator. Storyline has some satisfying predictable avenues that sit perfectly with a twisting & engaging plot. Great yarn 🤓
