This is the second book in the chronology of the story of Ari Thor and the book that Audible call the second is the third. The chapter numbering goes back to one about half way through. There are two short repeats towards the end. Audible need to pay more attention to detail in order to avoid these defects.

As this is actually book 2, not book 3, we already knew what happened to the policeman and that ari thor gets back with kristen, so both those plot lines were pointless. A shame. Not sure if this was Audible’s mistake for numbering them wrongly or the author thought it would be ok to do this. He also had to shoe horn in Ari Thor at the end when really it was the journalist who worked it out.
The names are difficult for the English ear as it’s much easier to lose track when names have no point of reference and sound very similar, but thats half the fun with a translated book. The narrator helps us navigate this. Im intrigued by the world of the series so I will persevere with the next book.

The story only hots up on the final quarter & is good thereafter. However, the Icelandic names are a challenge making the story lines difficult to follow. Not the best book I've listened to but well narrated.

The story was great and for the most part the narration was great apart from the Narrator pronouncing Ari Thor as Ari Tor. The character's name in Icelandic is spelt Ari Þór and the thorn letter þ is translated as th in English and pronounced as the th sound in thorn.

However the narrator did a good job with the rest of the pronunciation and the story so 4/5 stars for the narrator and 5/5 for the story and overall.

Once I got accustomed to the Icelandic names of people and places I found this story exciting and enjoyed the backdrop of the Icelandic volcano's eruption.The story or pieces of the puzzle untold through the hunt by the police and journalists making an interesting plait of strands. The backdrop of the country with its wild scenery is a part of this interesting criminal tale.

The narrator is excellent in his characterisation and narration.

I purchased this on an impulse after check I Nguyen reviews. Glad I did as I really enjoyed the story and hearing about Iceland. Good read and well read

Maybe not as good as Snowblind. It may have been the narrator though, who was OK on this one. The narrator of Snowblind had an Icelandic/Danish accent which somehow made it more authentic.
The story ended quite abruptly and it felt as if there were a few loose ends.

This is the third in the series & I was sorry that it was ending!

The story is again set in Northern Iceland. This time it begins by the side of a fjord.

It is a long summer's night & a man is brutally beaten to death.

As a result of an ash cloud thrown up by a recent volcanic eruption, where light had been, darkness now reigned.

A young reporter travels from Reykjavik whilst an innocent person's life hangs in the balance.

I felt that this was the most complex of the 3 books!

Book 4 please!😂😂

This could have been so good but for such a short story it seems hideously slow.

The performance is good but I found it very distracting that the narrator did all the Northern Icelandic accents in the precise style of David Mitchell's "and that's a bad miss" snooker commentator.

I didn't hate it, is the best I can say.
