About this listen
Raka Varoule survived the events of Black Swan Planet and returns to Earth, but things have changed. What has happened to the people he knew and cared for, and is Marco still wearing assless chaps? Find out in Black Swan Antithesis.
©2018 Black Swan Publications (P)2018 Black Swan PublicationsThis book opens several decades after the end of the first one, albeit this jump in time does not affect Raka since he was in a stasis escape pod the entire time before crashing back on Earth in Australia, while aiming to reunite with his long-time friends he also gains a couple of interesting characters that add to the eclectic mix that makes up the supporting cast of these books.
The narrator has again done a very good job, his choices of voices and accents serve to enhance rather than distract from the story and his overall performance gave the impression that he was comfortable with the material and characters.
Overall, this was an entertaining book in its own right, a strong addition to the series and will probably turn out to be a good platform for the conclusion.

Like it's predecessor, Black Swan Antithesis is a full on, manic adventure, this time to save the backward planet of Earth from the attentions of the mega powerful Empire.
When his stasis pod plummets to the surface of a backwater of planet Earth, Rocca emerges some forty years into the future, no time at all having passed for him. He makes a new friend and is reunited with old compaions, all still as crazy as before, and together they work to make Rocca one of the mounts famous celebrities in the world (if you want to know why, like Rocca did, too, you'll have to read the book).
Black Swan Antithesis is one of those rare beasts: a truly funny S.F. action thriller : funny both in ideas and happenings and the characters themselves, as well as what is said between protagonists. I especially enjoyed the very early in the book concept of someone playing free style didgeridoo, the intro to Hotel Calfornia. The whole is a bizarrely swirling kaleidoscope of an adventure covering several years, schemes and personalities.
Narrator David Swanson somehow makes sense of it all in his bravado reading, with full individual voicing for all of the characters, great delivery: intonation, clarity and pacing as well as obvious enthusiasm for his text. It all adds to the enjoyment. My thanks to the rights holder of Black Swan Antithesis who, at my request, freely gifted me a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Refreshing, silly, funny, with battles both big and small, recommended to all S.F.fans (especially those with a warped sense of humour). Roll on volume three.
