Summary

Winner of the Gold Award in the 2006 ForeWord Book of the Year competition, this groundbreaking book describes the unique challenges of women and girls with Asperger's Syndrome. In it you'll hear candid stories written by the indomitable women who have lived them. You'll also hear from experts who discuss whether Aspie girls are slipping under the radar, undiagnosed; why many AS women feel like a minority within a minority (outnumbered by men 4:1); practical solutions school systems can implement for girls; social tips for teenage girls, navigating puberty, the transition to work or university, and the importance of careers.

Hard to listen to due to narration

Unfortunately it is poorly narrated, I tried to listen to it but gave up as I kept losing track of what was being said as narrator wasn't very expressive

Shocked! and not in a good way.

Some of the advice given in this book for girls is very worrying. You may want to take the advice given in parts of this book and change your appearance and behaviour to 'fit in' to what you think is normal. However, I think that is more damaging in the long term and as someone who has been through it with no help and the benefit of hindsight, it would be better to accept yourself and love who you are, learn about what your differences are so you can use them to your advantage and ensure you get onto a career path (including motherhood) where you can find fulfilment.
You can tell Temple Grandin's part a mile off. Thats the part thats makes absolute sense!

Dreadful

‘read by what sounds like a robot - lumpen reductionism on ‘girls with ..’. There is nothing nuanced in here.
